Miscallaneous
remocon01
There is an unused version of the tutorial windows named "remocon01", which just uses lower quality versions of existing artwork from Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.
The artworks used below:
Abilitytest
Inside Water's ability icon files, there is an unused HUD icon which certainly would've been a placeholder as not only it is named "Abilitytest", but the text on the graphic says 仮, which means "temporary". It also makes sense that said graphic would be inside the files for Water as said ability was the first ability made for the game.
Red Kirby Icon
Inside the lyt files for Scope Shot's start menu, there is an icon for Red Kirby, which you guessed it, goes unused! However, unlike any other instances of Red Kirby mentioned in the lyt files where it either is just overwritten by Blue Kirby's or in the case for the start menu files for Ninja Dojo, a mention is straight up absent in the files, Red and Blue Kirbys' icons in this instance all coexist together.
Early Staff Credits Icon
The Special Thanks icon in the credits for the Extra Mode in Kirby's Return to Dream Land actually has an earlier, unused variant

GC Kirby Leftovers
To do:
|
Several of the GameCube incarnation's textures have been repurposed for use in this game, but certain textures remain unused.
airisland (Nutty Noon 1)
factory (several Egg Engines levels), all used
gckcanyon (Arena Midboss Rush), all used
The background gckcanyon is also a GameCube Kirby leftover although with some differences.
gcksnowmt (unused)
lowper (Final 5 in the True Arena)
Unseen Details
These are details found on textures that are used, but unseen.
Bowby
The texture for Bowby's arrow inside its weapon files contain a hidden face texture that is different to the face texture used for Bowby. The arrow texture is named "ChBowbyFace", while the face texture used in-game is named "ChBowby.00". Unlike the used face texture, there isn't a back variant nor expressions for the face texture used for the arrow present in the files.
ChBowbyFace | ChBowby.00 |
---|---|
Degout
The body texture used for Degout has a hidden eye found in it, which unlike the one used in-game is white rather than orange. The hidden eye of course, also cannot be applied to the model properly. Hunter Degout's body texture however, doesn't have any hidden eye found in it whatsoever!
Degout003 (Unseen) | DegoutEye2 (Seen) |
---|---|
Flamer
The body texture used for Flamer has a hidden eye in it that isn't seen in-game. The hidden eye is lower quality and isn't compatible with the eye mesh for the model as the eye mesh is set to use a separate eye texture rather than. Additionally, there also isn't a hurt variant for the hidden eye present in the files. The body texture is named ChFlamerBody' while the eye textures are named

Iron Barbar

Meta Knight
A few textures for Meta Knight, both in the main modes and Ninja Dojo, as well as Galacta Knight, Galacta Knight as most of his textures are just heavily modified Meta Knight textures, all contain a hidden cloak, which doesn't get used in-game as there isn't a mesh for the cloak present in Meta Knight's model. The only time Meta Knight's cloak appears in this game is in the cutscenes, which are pre-rendered. Galacta Knight's body textures are just upscaled Meta Knight textures but modified. This is also the case for Dark Meta Knight in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, although completely unseen.
Meta Knight (MetaBody.1) | Galacta Knight (MetaBlueFace.1) |
---|---|
Fatty Puffer
Fatty Puffer has a hidden eye that goes unseen in-game in one of his body textures. The hidden eye is lower quality than his used eye textures and is also red rather than purple, combined with the fact that there isn't a mad variant for it, this possibly indicates that he was originally going to only use one eye texture. Additionally, the hidden eye also isn't compatible with his eye mesh. Fatty Puffer EX doesn't have the hidden eye texture unlike his normal counterpart.
HR-D3
One of HR-D3's body textures, specifically BsDedederobo1 has a hidden chimney, which doesn't appear in-game. This is a leftover from Dedede Robo from the cancelled Kirby for Nintendo GameCube, whom HR-D3 is based on.
1-Up
The texture for the 1-Up model has a hidden version of the 1-Up text that is arranged differently and also is unseen in-game. For unknown reasons, the hidden text appears to have white outlines rather than gray, which has never happened before. Irrelevantly, the colors for the 1-Up texture also appear to be the same as the ones used for Kirby's normal palette in the cancelled Kirby for Nintendo GameCube.

Similarities to Assets
The hat models and textures for Fire, Fighter, Plasma, and Sword Kirby's trophies in Super Smash Bros. Brawl closely match those seen in footage from the scrapped Kirby for Nintendo GameCube that would later become Kirby's Return to Dream Land, although the flame effects for Fire Kirby are noticeably different.
Tornado and Fire's textures aren't compatible with the models from Kirby's Return to Dream Land at all, although, some of Tornado's hat textures from SSBB are both reused from Kirby Air Ride although the crown texture is modified. Fire’s textures on the other hand are not only different from the ones used in KRtDL, but they’re also different from the ones used in Kirby Air Ride.
All of the abilities that appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl except for Cook, since that's Kirby's Final Smash in that game, have at least 1 hat texture with the prefix "HrKirby" in their filenames, implying that those may be leftovers from Kirby for Nintendo GameCube.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl | Kirby's Return to Dream Land (unused) |
---|---|
Curiously, a downscaled version of the hat texture on the Beam Kirby trophy can actually be found unused in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, specifically within the files for the Flare Beam Super Ability! It is unknown whether it too was originally used while the game was in development on the GameCube, or if it was simply a placeholder.
Early/Super Smash Bros. Brawl | Final |
---|---|
This unused texture found in Flare Beam and Beam's files is also the exact one used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Beam Kirby's stick textures and filenames in Super Smash Bros. Brawl are also the same ones used in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, although in the CMPR format instead of the RGB565 one.
Same goes with this texture for Wing Kirby's hat, which is also named HrKirbyWing3 in both of those games. This texture is also reused from Kirby Air Ride.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl | Kirby's Return to Dream Land |
---|---|
Both Sleep Kirby's hat textures for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Kirby's Return to Dream Land can also be applied to their hat models, although the one used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is higher poly than in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. The texture used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is named HrKirbySleepHat while the texture used in Return to Dreamland is named KbSleepHat.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl | Kirby's Return to Dream Land |
---|---|
This also applies to Fighter Kirby's hat, although if the textures from Return to Dreamland are applied to the model from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the star on the texture from Return to Dreamland will be stretched. However, if it's the other way around, it can be applied just okay. Both of the textures are named HrKirbyFighterHat.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl | Kirby's Return to Dream Land |
---|---|
This texture of the hat for Wing Kirby's hat in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and in Return to Dream Land are also similar, although with some differences. Both textures are named HrKirbyWingHat.
The textures of the hat for Ice Kirby's hat in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (top) and in Return to Dream Land (bottom) are also similar, although with some differences.
Sword (SSBB) | Bomb (KRTDL, Unused) |
---|---|
The unused texture for Bomb Kirby's hat in Kirby's Return to Dream Land can also be applied to the hat model for Sword Kirby's trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl almost perfectly. The filename for Sword Kirby's hat in SSBB is named HrKirbySwordHat while the filename Bomb Kirby's unused hat texture in KRtDL is named KbBombHat.
Spark Kirby's gem texture used in Kirby's Return to Dream Land is also reused from Kirby Air Ride and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is named HrKirbyPlasma3 in SSBB, while in KRtDL, it is named KbSparkHat2
The textures of the hat for Needle Kirby's hat in Kirby Air Ride/Super Smash Bros. Brawl (top) and in Kirby's Return to Dream Land (bottom) are also similar, although with some major differences.
GordoBody (SSBB) | ChGordoBody00 (KRTDL, Unused) |
---|---|
The enemy Gordo's unused textures from KRtDL are similar to his textures from SSBB and can also be applied to his model from SSBB just okay.
ChWalkyBody (SSBB) | EmWalkyBody (KRTDL) |
---|---|
Same goes with Walky's model, although it will look a bit unusual.
Both Dyna Blade and Kracko's trophies in Super Smash Bros. Brawl also have the same prefix (Bs) for some of their textures (Dyna Blade's is BsDynablade and Kracko's is BsKracko) as some of HR-D3/Dedede Robo and Giant Flotzo's, for Kirby's Return to Dream Land, (BsDederobo for HR-D3, although HR-D3 does have one texture labeled with HRD3 for it instead and BsGhostShip for Giant Flotzo respectively).
Notes
Ability HUD icon IDs
This is all of the IDs for the ability HUD icons, note that the Landia ability doesn't have an ID assigned for it.
- Notice how IDs 8-10 are skipped. The skipped IDs are reasonably assumed to have been the scrapped super variant of the Spark ability as the HUD icon for it got overwritten by Ultra Sword's, as well as the possible scrapped super variants of Stone and Water, both of which on the other hand, if they existed, appear to have straight up been removed rather than overwritten, leaving only its possible evidence in texture filenames.
