Stage Select

Bbl-select.png

A stage select can be accessed when starting a new game by using Pro Action Replay (PAR) code 7E1D7E01.

At one point, the game had a way to enable this by pressing Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A (likely at the title screen), at which point a sound effect would play and the stage select would take effect upon starting the game.

The programming for this button code still exists at SNES address 86DB4D (US version), but is never referenced. The array of button values is stored at SNES address 81F6DC.

Minigame Menu

Entering Elmyra, Shirley, Calamity as a password will take you to a menu allowing you to play any of the between-stage minigames, and view the roulette wheel cutscene.

The selections in the menu itself do not use the actual names of each minigame. The table below tells which minigame corresponds to each selection.

Menu Name Minigame Name
Roulette Roulette Wheel cutscene
Squash Furrball's Championship Squash
Junction Hungry Boy Hamton
Maze Babs, Find Your Friends!
Bingo Plucky Duck's Go-Go Bingo
Seesaw Mystery Weight Challenge

Ending

The Japanese version had 2 versions of the ending screen depending on which difficulty mode the player selects. When beating the game on "Children" mode, Babs appears in the rings. When beating the game on "Normal", Buster appears. The US and European versions removed these and used the same background as the title screen for all difficulty settings, with "Children" and "Normal" featuring messages encouraging the player to replay the game on the next difficulty level. In "Challenge" mode, there is no message and it just shows "The End".

The US and European versions added Judy Steel to the "Special Thanks" section of the credits.

Miscellaneous

  • To keep the Back to the Future joke, the speedometer that pops up during the cutscene at the end of the second stage is in kilometers per hour in the Japanese version and miles per hour internationally. The number on the speedometer itself was also made yellow, for some reason.

  • The password for Buster's Sky-jinx, the fifth level of the game (Gogo Dodo, Calamity Coyote, Little Beeper) only works in the Japanese version (likely due to the password system in the US and EU versions forcing the game's difficulty level to Children, which skips over said level). The US and EU versions do check for the password, but if the ID of level to go to matches Sky-jinx's (04), the game will instead act as if an incorrect password was entered. This patch, or Game Genie codes 3C39-C501 3C39-C561, will make the password enterable in the US and EU versions.
