Evermore
Secret of Evermore has nothing to do with the Mana / Seiken Densetsu series. It was an original game created by Square USA and it shared nothing with the Mana series other than a part of the name. I don't think it'd fit in this category. // Foxhack 12:07, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
It shares the engine of Seiken Densetsu 2, and is quite on-par with Mana games, so it deserves a little tribute. Marked it as spin-off , so it should be okay. Montas1992 12:41, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
- Wait. It does? The game is not even close to being as buggy as SD2 / SoM... I dunno. :p // Foxhack 12:52, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
- To my knowledge, the notion that Evermore uses the same engine as SD2 is an unfounded gaming urban legend (along the same lines as it being developed as an alternative to a localization of SD3). There's never been any confirmation of either rumor and a guy who showed up at GameFAQs claiming to be the lead programmer (questionable but not unprecedented) said both claims were false. Eventually this discussion led to this interview (previously at this site). Given the lack of any proof for the rumors, I'll believe the guy is legit.
- Personally, however, I believe that Evermore is close enough in concept and spirit (and marketing intent of title) to the other entries that it makes sense to put it in the template, even if it's clearly not part of the World of Mana (a term which didn't come about until after 2000). Also, Evermore may feel somewhat tighter and more mechanically consistent than SD2, but it's not exactly free of glitches - apparently there was a large list of them collected at GameFAQs at some point, but I haven't managed to find it yet. You can see a fair number detailed at the end of this FAQ. 7HeroesForceBattle 06:46, 6 September 2012 (EDT)
- I never said the game didn't have bugs, haha. But I had a lot less bugs than the game breaking ones I found in Secret of Mana back in the day. ;) // Foxhack 15:48, 6 September 2012 (EDT)
Wait since when does having the same gameplay result in the games being part of the same series?
Soeone who is experienced in SNES hacking will need to compare the code
Is there any other direct, obvious, or admitted connection between Evermmore and Mana? If not, then they're not in the same series by anyone's interpretation - Andlabs 15:10, 6 September 2012 (EDT)
