Template:Fangame

This article is about a fan-made game project. Articles about fan games require explicit permission from administrators.

This template is used for marking articles about fan games. As the name implies, these are game projects created by fans of a given commercial property, such as Super Mario or Metroid, and usually released without permission from or acknowledgment by the parent company. These games usually aim to either remake or improve the source material in some way (Mega Man: The Sequel Wars), or create a new entry in a series (Mushroom Kingdom Fusion).

To use this template, type the following at or near the top of a given page: {{fangame|[Admin approver name]}}.

As a reminder: articles about fan games require explicit permission from the administration, so if a fan game page exists and is tagged as such, there's a good chance it will be investigated, flagged as non-compliant and may be removed by moderators! If you've gotten permission to host a fan game page here, make sure to link to it in the relevant talk page!
