Unclear triggers

Information on 1: What actually triggers Yami Yugi's post-tournament challenge and 2: What unlocks Dark Magician Girl in the shop is sparse and contradictory, with many thinking they are both entirely random (I'd actually go as far as to guess the triggers are broken and more specific/less certain than intended).
