Sonic's old iOS model

I see in the todo section that there's a bit about Sonic having a different Rush-style model in early releases of the iOS port. The linked picture isn't of particularly great quality, but I did find a random screenshot that I took over a decade ago that depicts this earlier rendition of Sonic more closely. Unfortunately, the screenshot's not of great quality - the image is blown up to 2x native resolution since the game wasn't iPad-compatible yet - so I don't know if it can go on the page, but hopefully it aids in reference. Late reply, but I did take a look at this screenshot and it seems like Apple was doing pixel-perfect scaling - the only issue I can see is that there's some weird dithering going on. I won't make the call on whether this can go on the page (would probably need a crop), but good find. MrMrMANGOMILK (talk) 20:54, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

iOS Demo

The page refers to the OUYA version as having been the only version with a demo, but there was actually a demo released on iOS as well. I'm unsure how or if this should be added to the page, since it's technically a part of a separate app called the Sonic 20th Anniversary app (though the Sonic 4 demo is the main content of the app): https://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_20th_Anniversary

It seems to use the same "LITE" graphic as the OUYA demo on the title screen:

However, the game doesn't use the same "Purchase Full Version" screen seen on the page:

It's possible this was changed in an update at some point, maybe even for the OUYA demo itself.

User:WhoIAm also mentioned the older sonic model during the SEGA logo in older versions of the game, so I thought it was worth taking another screenshot of this:

However, the Sonic 4 demo in this app constantly has an x button in the corner for exiting to the apps main screen. The Sonic 20th Anniversary itself also uses the exact same logo, without the x button:

Missing track 21 (and 22 in QA build)

I have been looking around for this since I saved a rip of the PS3 soundtrack from Zophar's Domain. Everything is listed as "S4EP1_00_" followed by its title, but in the final PS3 release, track 21 is missing. It placement would be near the jingles, drowning, invincibility and 1-UP, which leads me to believe it is the continue jingle from either Sonic 1/2 or 3. There isn't a continue function in EP1, but there is a very similar layout when you lose in Time Attack (with Sonic waiting) that may have played a continue jingle, if it is related. Tangentially related - track 21 is also missing in the Sony QA build dated Febuary 9 2010, but so is the drowning jingle, "S4EP1_22_Obore". I plan on looking into the original iOS release as well to see if anything is missing there as well. gxmighty (talk) 19:10, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
