According to the article, you start with 6 lives in the American version. However, the ROM I have started me off with 12 lives. Anyone know what's up with that? Binarystep (talk) 07:08, 12 September 2016 (EDT)

Japanese Stage Intro Clips

So I decided to take another crack at deciphering what exactly is being said before the beginning of each stage in the Japanese version, and I'm having a tough time figuring it out. Neither the Japanese manual nor American manual are helping me out either... so I'm hoping I could get some help here.

Here's where I'm at currently:

  • Stage 1: (?) "Go The First Battle!"
  • Stage 2: ???
  • Stage 3: "Destroy battleship!"
  • Stage 4: ??? "Astrotube"
  • Stage 5: (?) "Take the last breath"

User SuperTop already added the transcript for Stage 1, though I'm not sure if it's correct or not (I thought "Go" actually sounded like "Kill"). And I can make out "Astrotube" for Stage 4. But only Stage 3 is clear enough for me, I can't understand the rest. Stage 5 is a wild guess from me, and I'm not even sure if it's accurate.

P.S. I'm not too familiar with the inner workings of the game's audio, but it seems the Japanese voice samples may be 7-bit, while the one American/European voice sample is proper 1-bit DPCM? CleanRoom (talk) 04:17, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
