Controller 2?
Is controller 2 used anywhere in the game, besides the Cx4 menu test stuff? --JLukas 07 October 2010
- Nope, just that one instance. --GoldS 03:12, 7 October 2010 (EDT)
- An unknown controller 2 check was part of a Map Editor mode. Hooray! --JLukas 07:13, 7 October 2010 (EDT)
- Just curious, how can you determine if something is a controller 2 check? --GoldS 07:36, 7 October 2010 (EDT)
- In this case, searching for anything that reads memory address 7E00AF. A quick and easy way to find what memory addresses hold controller buttons in a game is to use the cheat search in an emulator. Use a "not equal to previous value" search each time you open the cheat window as you hold down different buttons on controller 2. --JLukas 08:04, 7 October 2010 (EDT)
- Ah, I knew about that, I just wondered if there was a general RAM value for this. Thanks!
I checked through Mega Man X and I've found something similar to the debug code at $048692 and $048882. Maybe that's worth checking out. --GoldS 08:05, 7 October 2010 (EDT)- Nice work on the MMX1 version GoldS! Very cool that the discovery wasn't limited to just one game. --JLukas 22:57, 7 October 2010 (EDT)
- Any chance that this is in Mega Man X2 as well? -- Rick 23:52, 7 October 2010 (EDT)
- Unfortunately no. From what I've seen in the code, the only thing that reads from the 2P controller is the C4 chip check. It was probably removed. It may be in the Japanese version, but it's definitely not in the NA revision.
EDIT: Nope, it's not there either. Damn.--GoldS 05:01, 8 October 2010 (EDT)

He's using the MMX Anniversary collection, though. It might be a good idea to take a look into the original SNES version for these.
- Is this what you're looking for? (scroll down a bit)

Possible beta Japanese cartridge, is this legit?

Seller is asking for $10,000 cash. That's odd, right? Not to mention selling such a thing on Craigslist? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by SPennLUE (talk • contribs)
- Quite high of a price, I must say, but it seems the seller's aware it's rare. Odd how the title screen partially spells out the month the prototype was compiled unlike the currently dumped prototype (the seller's proto is from August 8, but the dumped proto is from August 23). Very tough to say whether it's real since the seller doesn't have a cart picture and only is showing the title screen.
- The seller responded to my email request for a pic of the board. A quick Google Images search didn't return any matches. Based on that, it's likely the seller took this pic. https://imgur.com/a/ih3Lf
- In the email, the seller said: "The board is completely different in terms of what was released in retail game. This board is larger and doesn't fit into any standard SNES or Super Famicom case. You'd have to create a custom one for it if you wanted it encased. These type of boards companies used for testing and displays, where they would reprogram or flash the chips on the board with any new data. This one came from Capcom of Japan. I attached an image so you can see." SPennLUE (talk) 22:04, 4 October 2017 (EDT)
- Yeah, it is legit. However, he's been trying to sell it for many months now, and at that definitely too high of a price (an evaluation based firmly on actual sales of other pre-final X series prototypes over the past two or so years). The fact that a prototype dated just two weeks after his has been freely shared should also be considered when valuing this one. That being said, patience might pay off as it is nevertheless being monitored, just in case. --X1z36 (talk) 09:49, 5 October 2017 (EDT)
Vertical Boss Shutter
Upon entering Sigma's room, a door closes underneath X. Does this object have any relation to the one intended for Blast Hornet? Theclaw (talk) 14:29, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
