VGA and EGA modes are distinct

The VGA mode, and EGA mode, despite looking the same, do function differently. I remember playing this game on a 486 with an ATI Mach8 video card, and the EGA mode was glitchy, while the VGA mode worked correctly. Edit: You can even seen the glitchy graphics on DosBox.

In Mega Man 3, the EGA mode functioned correctly without glitches. --Dwedit (talk) 02:29, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

That's true, there is some difference, though I couldn't figure out what it was. From my disassembly, they were both using EGA mode 0Dh, and the same graphics "driver" code. I did notice that glitch problem, so obviously something slightly different happens when you select VGA vs EGA, but when I was looking into it I was unable to identify a separate code path for or anything that paid attention to the selected value. It must do something extra somewhere that I missed, but there definitely isn't separate driver code for VGA like there is for the unused Tandy version. - Rainwarrior (talk) 02:47, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

What?

This exists? Logix (talk) 00:38, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

Is the anti-copying actually anti-copying

Should the anti-copying mechanism really be counted on the bob if it's unused? --Gmestanley (talk) 14:44, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
