Unused Sega Art
The 1988 Sega logo art can be seen in VRAM, after the 1989 Sega logo screen, but after a split-second, it gets overwritten by numbers.

Hidden Text
This string is found in the notes section of the ROM header, only in REV00:
programmed by waka, hama thanks OHE R/D#1
"waka" and "hama" are likely Masahiro Wakayama and Takahiro Hamano, respectively.
High Scores
To do: Figure out the rest. |
The default high score table uses developer names. The "Beginner" course seems to use surnames, while "Junior" uses given names.
Rank | Beginner | Junior | Potential Developer |
---|---|---|---|
1st | SAE | HIR | Hiroto Saeki |
2nd | MAE | KUM | |
3rd | HAS | MAS | |
4th | KAM | CHI | Chikako Kamatani |
5th | WAK | MAS | Masahiro Wakayama |
6th | HAM | TAK | Takahiro Hamano |
7th | UNK | GER |
The other two tables are replicated directly from the arcade version. The names are the same on both lists, except for the last.
Rank | Senior | Expert | Potential Developer |
---|---|---|---|
1st | KAN | KAN | Minoru Kanari |
2nd | OHE | OHE | Akira Ohe |
3rd | KAG | KAG | Tadashi Kagawa |
4th | MIZ | MIZ | Kenji Mizumoto |
5th | SAT | SAT | |
6th | TAK | TAK | |
7th | MIY | MAK |
NAO
Entering your name as "SEX" on the high score screen will change it to "NAO".
Revision Differences
Controls
The steering controls are less sensitive in REV01, so the handling of the bike is much tighter. In REV00, it's very easy to drift all the way to the other side of the road when making a turn. In REV01, it takes more time to move from one side of the road to the other, so you're less likely to drift off-course.
Graphics
A couple billboards on the side of the road were also changed. These are easiest to see on the "Expert" course (Europe).
REV00 | REV01 |
---|---|
"Morobare", an obvious parody of Marlboro cigarettes, was changed to "Soroban!!". This was likely due to the lawsuit Philip Morris had filed against Sega in 1991 for parodying its brand in Super Monaco GP, which lead to an accusation of marketing tobacco to children.

---|---|
"Bridalstone", a parody of Bridgestone, was changed to "Genesis" with a pointing hand. The outline of the original design can still be seen.
