Super Granny tells the story of, well, Super Granny, rescuing her cats from being stolen by gnomes and defeating said gnomes (and dogs) by burying them alive.

Cheat Keys

There are undocumented cheat keys left in the game.
Controls:
[: Adds 10,000 points to the score.
]: Gives 10 lives.
\: Instantly beats the level.

Unused Graphics

Early Desktop Icon

SuperGrannyEarlyIcon.png
A Lemmings-esque desktop icon.

Placeholder Graphics

Is that an ant?
Objects.png is a collection of rather poorly drawn placeholders for basic level objects (for example, Granny and her cats.) Also of note is the hat; there is no hat left in the game. It may have been a scrapped powerup that made Granny faster.

Trampoline

BOING!
A trampoline graphic, with quality akin to the placeholder textures. There's nothing like a trampoline in the final game, though it may have worked similarly to the fan in Granny in Paradise.

Old HUD

SuperGrannyOldHUD.png
An earlier HUD. Notable differences:

  • The main color scheme is purple, compared to yellow in the final.
  • The buttons use a different font.
  • There is no score display box.
  • The Granny life icon and flower resemble the placeholder graphics above.

There are two copies of this HUD in the files, but they are both grayed out:

Tombstone

SuperGranny-Tombstone.png

A tombstone, along with animation frames so that it pops out of the ground. It might have been for whenever Granny buried an enemy.

Cutscene Art

Art created for story cutscenes. However, no cutscenes are present in Super Granny. The audio for these still exist in the files.

Unused Sounds

complain1-2.ogg

Audio Subtitle
This is almost as much fun as running!
My grandson could do this much quicker.

Granny complaining. It's unknown what these would be used for. These lines also use a different voice actor, and are of a higher quality than the lines the game normally uses.

congrats1-3.ogg

Audio Subtitle
Oh, nice job!
Good work!
Granny thanks you!

Granny congratulating the player.

creditsequence.ogg

Audio Subtitle
Err... there's Evelyn, and Betty (named after Betty Davis), and Judy (named after Judy Garland), and George, and Gracie. Oh, and there's Edwin.

Granny reciting a list of names, with it fading out near the end. However, no one named Evelyn, Betty, Judy, George, Gracie, or Edwin are in the credits.

deathpit.ogg

Audio Subtitle
(Screaming)

Granny screaming while falling down a pit. Granny doesn't say anything when she falls down a pit.

defend1-2.ogg

Audio Subtitle
Don't get fresh with me!
Nobody messes with Super Granny!

Different lines for (presumably) Granny using the Purse. These use the different voice actor and are in the higher quality.

gasp.ogg

Audio Subtitle
(Heavy breathing)

Granny gasping for breath. Possibly could've been used when Granny climbed a ladder.

helpuser.ogg

Audio Subtitle
Move me around with the arrow keys and help me dig with the space bar, dear.

Tutorial dialogue that teaches both movement and digging at the same time. The final version teaches movement first using one file, then teaching about digging later with another file.

nowimstuck.ogg

Audio Subtitle
Oh... now I'm stuck. Wait one second and I'll pop out of this hole.

Tutorial dialogue for falling in a one-tile hole. Digging in the tutorials is disabled until something being demonstrated requires it, and all of the holes dug in the tutorials never get Granny stuck (for example, when Tutorial 2 has Granny dig a hole to bury a gnome, there is an invisible barrier blocking off the hole).

scene1-8.ogg

Audio Subtitle
(gasp) Who took my kitties?! I'll get to the bottom of this if it's the last thing I do!
A pair of small pants! They must have been in a hurry.
Where are my kitties, you bad, bad gnome?
Ooh, it's getting chilly.
This must be where they're hiding my kitties!
Aha! They're using my cats to power their evil machinery.
Let's get this over with and go home, shall we?
Oh, I'm tuckered. Good night, my precious.

Dialogue for story cutscenes. Cutscenes were added in the game’s sequel, Granny in Paradise.

Unobtainable Bonus Flower

In level 57, one of the bonus flowers cannot be obtained because the dirt tile it's located on is fake. [1]

Oddities

The file displaying the game’s controls is named retarded_user.png. This same file extends to the sequel, with the same name.
