This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article? |
Pump It Up Pro is the first Pump It Up game that was not created by a Korean team using the Stepmania engine. Headed by the same team that worked on In The Groove, it was competing with the other line of Pump It Up games directly. It somehow managed to pull out a sequel although Kyle Ward and Chris Foy branched away to work on other projects.
Bust Back
In the BGAnimations folder lies the background animation of the song "Bust Back" by DVS, originally debuting in Pump It Up NX. The song file, step data, and anything else associated with it is nowhere to be seen. This song was probably transferred alongside all the other NX debut songs, but cut from Pro, due to the bad censoring job on the song cut, leaving the word "nigga" unchanged and "fuck" still slightly audible with the record scratching overlay.
ANGERFACE DOES NOT APPROVE
The only video file in the RandomMovies folder is displeased.mpg. The video is of a random background movie with the Pump It Up Pro mine overlayed with an angry looking face and the text "ANGERFACE DOES NOT APPROVE". This is only accessible if a player plays a song that has no background script in the step data, most notably custom Stepmania simfiles. Since this is only possible via hacking the game in some form, it is primarily a joke.
Darkly We Wander
In the course file of "Darkly We Wander", there are a few paragraphs at the end after the scripting. These are not visible nor accessible anywhere in the game.
//Hello, brave adventurer! It looks like you have found my secret diary. Let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Edward J. Sterling. I was born in a nice quiet town, in the southeast corner of good ol' England. I had a pretty normal upbringing here; my family and I were living peacefully in our two-story brick house. I was always fascinated by the concept of music. Depending on the song, it brought great joy to my ears, and I was left with a sense of peace and happiness afterwards. //One day, I heard the song "Take Me Back," by a Mr. Kyle Ward. This guy is quite the fellow, let me tell you! The song inspired me so much, that I built a time machine to take me back (haha, a pun!) to when Mr. Ward first started making his wonderful electronic music. You know how we english folk are with our time machines...that Alexander Hartdegen is quite the crazy one! //Since then, I have become good friends with Mr. Ward, although I have never really made an appearance out in public. He did, however, mention my name at this rather popular...how do you say...convention. I believe it was Anime Central 2006? In any case, there is a digital video circulating somewhere around the information super highway, in which Mr. Ward confirms my existance. Now, I have to admit, I wasn't that much of a social person, so I didn't really talk with anyone. //At this point, I was discovered! I feared for my life, realizing that the paparazzi would be swarming me with answers to my unknown past. I knew what I had to do. I took haste, and went back to my time machine. My stay in the states was but a brief one, but alas, I will never forget you, Mr. Ward! Perhaps you can take me back some day... //-E. Sterling
Step Creator Credits
Each stepchart is credited to the creator of the steps. However, due to the theme not displaying stepchart authors, you can't see who created what charts. In most cases, these are as they should, however in two charts this is not the case. The Half-Double chart for "VVV" (introduced in the r5 patch of the game) is credited to "J. Dread, you fucker" and the Nightmare chart for "Hasse Mich" is credited to "GO TO HELL!!" These were, obviously, changed in the sequel.
