Proto:VVVVVV (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux)/VVVVVVVV (27th June)
This is a sub-page of Proto:VVVVVV (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux).
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article? Notes: Need to add info for the Space Station Unused area, and the unused "Outer Space"s rooms, plus compare this lab version with the final game |
This one is fully playable online here.
Contents
General Differences
- No main menu.
- No special background. Just uses the outer space background.
- No room names at all, except for "otherlevel". Each room name consists of just "Untitled room [xx, yy]".
- All rooms just use a plain blue graphic tile and the regular spikes as opposed to the final's outline-ish looking tile graphics for tiles and spikes.
Music
The title screen music is the same as the June 9th proto, but the in-game music "Main_music_2" is Martin Galway's loader tune for Comic Bakery.

The placeholder music credits have been changed to Martin Galway, but the placeholder title music is still Matt Gray's.
Notably, this title screen also lacks the logo from the June 9th proto.

Instead of having to walk into the starting room, the player starts off in the starting room. The checkpoint was moved into the ceiling in the final, and the room was given a much needed polish, with a spiral-ish shape before descending into the next room.

Four rooms later lies another difference; what would become "Single-slit Experiment" was just a simple curve leading downwards.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
The room that would become "Young Man, It's Worth The Challenge" would've been a lot more challenging, even as far as including vertical moving platforms. The trinket was moved to the very leftmost of the room in the final version of the room.
Unused Areas
"otherlevel"
This area is internally named "otherlevel", but only contains two rooms, one is named Testbed (obviously a test room), and the another is the "Outer Space" endless void.
