Unused Dialogue

General

  • The demo begins and ends in Zanydu.
  • Drew and Flux have unique dialogue referencing the demo's objectives and the $5 rebate for those who received the demo.
  • Drew starts with three items: a plunger, a red herring, and one stick of Marge's butter.
  • A few puzzle solutions were changed so that they may be entirely completed in Zanydu.
  • Some dialogue was chopped up into separate files for the final release of the game, presumably for timing.
  • Most of the items used in the retail version of the game can be found inside the game's files.
  • There's a leftover video of the mouse dancing in the tavern (retail filename: 406M.SMK) in place of the scene where Nefarious is working on his ship (207M.SMK), likely for space.

HUGHPORT vs. OUTGUARD

Demo Final
Demo Final

Instead of the Toilet Sentry, there is a portrait of King Hugh on the wall of WACME customers. He's holding the unused WACME Safe and Insane™ item, and probably its combination.

Some dithering and the color of the wall was also changed.

KNIFE

Cutopian Army Knife

Like the final game, there's an image of the unused Cutopian Army Knife item in the game's files.

LOADSAVE

OPTIONS

Demo Final
Demo Final

In the demo, there were options to "Save" and "Load." In the final, a second font option was added and the option for a medium "Video Mode" was removed.

OUTHSDBL

Demo Final
Demo Final

The instructions for fish-flushing are more straight-forward about getting the sole fish. In the retail version, the puffer fish is (misleadingly) the best prize.

Video Differences

416M.SMK

Demo Final

The demo movie of the itching powder has more dramatic music than the final, which uses the Outhouse theme. Woof is also voiced in the retail release.

SGEXT11.SMK

Demo Final

In this video, the Toilet Sentry tiptoes away from the entrance of the Outhouse after his shift is over. The final version added an animation of him turning the sign.
