Alternate Takes |
Unused Dialogue |
General
- The demo begins and ends in Zanydu.
- Drew and Flux have unique dialogue referencing the demo's objectives and the $5 rebate for those who received the demo.
- Drew starts with three items: a plunger, a red herring, and one stick of Marge's butter.
- A few puzzle solutions were changed so that they may be entirely completed in Zanydu.
- Some dialogue was chopped up into separate files for the final release of the game, presumably for timing.
- Most of the items used in the retail version of the game can be found inside the game's files.
- There's a leftover video of the mouse dancing in the tavern (retail filename: 406M.SMK) in place of the scene where Nefarious is working on his ship (207M.SMK), likely for space.
Unused Graphics
BOOK
Demo | Final |
---|---|
The image for the book, "Mating Habits of the Wild Swamphen." More info about the hen can be found on the pre-release page.
HUGHPORT vs. OUTGUARD
Demo | Final |
---|---|
Instead of the Toilet Sentry, there is a portrait of King Hugh on the wall of WACME customers. He's holding the unused WACME Safe and Insane™ item, and probably its combination.
Some dithering and the color of the wall was also changed.
KNIFE
Like the final game, there's an image of the unused Cutopian Army Knife item in the game's files.
LOADSAVE
Demo | Final |
---|---|
A placeholder image for the Load/Save screen.
OPTIONS
Demo | Final |
---|---|
In the demo, there were options to "Save" and "Load." In the final, a second font option was added and the option for a medium "Video Mode" was removed.
OUTHSDBL
Demo | Final |
---|---|
The instructions for fish-flushing are more straight-forward about getting the sole fish. In the retail version, the puffer fish is (misleadingly) the best prize.

GENERIC.SVL.131 | "No time for introspection. I have a world to save!" | Oddly, these lines will play if you use the spit or cooked roll on the sole fish, or butter on the cooked roll. | |
GENERIC.SVL.132 | "No time for introspection. I have a castle to escape from!" |
Video Differences
416M.SMK
Demo | Final |
---|---|
The demo movie of the itching powder has more dramatic music than the final, which uses the Outhouse theme. Woof is also voiced in the retail release.
SGEXT11.SMK
Demo | Final |
---|---|
In this video, the Toilet Sentry tiptoes away from the entrance of the Outhouse after his shift is over. The final version added an animation of him turning the sign.
Unused SFX
These wrong action sound effects go unused in the final release.
