Proto:TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (PlayStation 2, GameCube)
This page details one or more prototype versions of TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (PlayStation 2, GameCube).
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
To do: Extract the game's files from PAKs for examination. CRC32s for filenames that didn't change can probably be bruteforced by slightly altering GameCube filepaths. Filenames that did change or aren't present in the final will stand out since they will have no equivalent. |
A preview of TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, dated November 28, 2004. Being only three months before the game's release, the game is largely finished, but there's still quite a lot of differences from the final build, including lots of carryovers from TimeSplitters 2.

All cheats are unlocked from the get-go, and Silly Hats appear on the list, but doesn't appear to do anything.
To do: See if there's any way to access/rip this trailer. |
The Extras menu has a locked option for "View Trailer", an option lacking in the final.

Escort
The Escort gamemode is present here, and is very playable, despite not tracking score in any way, raising the question as to why it was cut. Escort is limited to the same maps as Assault, and plays in the opposite direction of that mode (i.e. Rather than breaking into Mars Prison to assassinate a prisoner, you're a bunch of prisoners breaking out of Mars Prison). Escort is a two-team mode where Red Team must escort the VIP through the checkpoints on the way to the end of the map, while Blue Team's goal is to kill the VIP. At the start of the game, one player from Red Team is randomly assigned as the VIP. As VIP, you are unable to pick up weapons, and spawn with full armor. The VIP's armor regenerates after 5 seconds of safety, and they can hold the Fire button to run faster, at the expense of their armor.
Weapon Sets
All of the default weapon sets remain the same, however all maps' Recommended weapons were modified before release to have more variation between them, and the Mapmaker weapon set is available for use on non-Mapmaker maps. The Available Weapons list has also received two new entries that were removed before release: TNT, and the Temporal Uplink! Both seem fully functional in multiplayer maps, making it unclear why they were cut from release.

Changed Audio
Present exclusively in this build of the game is the Perfect Dark death theme, used whenever the player fails in Story and Challenge modes, likely used as a placeholder. The song in total plays for 2 minutes and 24 seconds. However, a lot of that time is silence.
