This is a sub-page of Proto:Taipei (Microsoft, Windows).

Taipei! v1.02 is the oldest known prototype of Taipei, which was discovered on a website for downloading old shareware ([1]) in a zip file.

General Differences

  • Most notably, this was designed for Windows 1.x/2.x. It's does not work on Windows 3.0 upward due to the *.exe format being totally different at that time.
  • There are more options in the menu.
  • There is no title screen.
  • There is no help file.

Graphical Differences

The tiles are somewhat different and brighter than in the final and somewhat larger.

The game's icon is a monochrome-vector design. The final version uses a colored icon with a different tile.
