This is a sub-page of Proto:Spyro the Dragon (PlayStation)/July 18th, 1998 build.

Like the June 15th prototype, all of the themes used in this world loop every 2 minutes and 4 seconds - the length of Stone Hill's theme. As a result, the themes played in Terrace Village, Misty Bog and Tree Tops are cut off early, while the theme played in Wild Flight has an unusually long silence at the end before looping.

Arguably one of the strangest differences from the final game occurs in these levels - all of the dragons use the placeholder name of "Silvus".

Differences

Beast Makers Home

Jul 18 Aug 12 Final

  • The level seems to be lit a lot less well than in the final. The lighting around the Misty Bog portal in particular is a noticeably different colour.
    • The lighting throughout this level seems to match what is used in the June 15th prototype. It appears as though the only major change to the map from June 15th was a slight extension to the first bridge the player encounters, which now roughly matches its final size.

Tree Tops

  • One room, which has a log-themed floor texture in the final, uses a stone texture in this version.
  • A few stone floors around the level would later receive slightly more colourful textures.

Metalhead

Aside from a couple of small changes, and the usual gem placement changes, this level is very close to completion:

  • Due to changes in their far LOD models, the metal armor of the Armored Banana Boy enemies is visible only when Spyro is really close to them. It isn't the case in the June 15th prototype.
  • An extra enemy near the end level vortex is still present from the previous build.

Wild Flight

  • There are a few minor texture changes throughout the level - particularly some of the usage of the lamp texture.
