Proto:Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast)/Preview/Early English Script

This is a sub-page of Proto:Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast)/Preview.

Despite the English dub being completed at the time of this build's creation, the subtitle lines that can be found in EVMESD1.PRS seem to use a much earlier draft of the English script/translation, with many lines (particularly for the Sonic and Shadow confrontation scenes) having overly literal and unusual sentences (such as Sonic calling Shadow "poser" instead of "faker," among other things). It also lacks time stamps.

Is he warping using the Chaos emerald? Shadow: I'm Shadow. The one and only ultimate life form on the earth. I gotta go. No time to play.	Sonic: Those robots are a total pain in the... What? Shadow: It all starts with this... A jewel containing the ultimate power... Sonic: That's the...Chaos Emerald! Now I know what's going on! The military has mistaken me for the likes of you! So...where do you think you're going with that Emerald?! Say something! You fake hedgehog! Shadow: Chaos Control! Sonic: Wow...he's fast! Hey, it's not his speed. He must be using the Chaos Emerald to warp! Shadow: I'm the world's ultimate life form. There's no time for games...farewell. Sonic: Kuu! Shadow...what is he?	Sonic and Shadow's first confrontation was completely changed in the final game, there's also some lines missing. Please note that Sonic's first line (Those robots are a total pain in the.../全くしつこいヤツラだぜ) goes unused in the final. Though it's still used in an early version of the cutscene file.

Sonic: That's. Shadow: That hedgehog again, huh? Why now? Sonic: I found you, you poser! Shadow: Poser? You must be talking about yourself, I guess. No, not even on the same level to be called a fake. Sonic: I'll make you eat those words!	Sonic: Hey, that's... Shadow: That blue hedgehog again, of all places... Sonic: I found you, faker! Now, for a little space ride! The capsule clears the colony, BAM! Sonic: I'm counting on you Tails! And Amy, take care of yourself! Eggman: Farewell! Sonic the Hedgehog! Tails: It's not fair! Eggman! Amy: Sonic... Eggman: Farewell Sonic... My admirable adversary! Amy: SONIC! Eggman: Now we have some unfinished business to take care of! If you give me the real Emerald, I will release you both. You have my promise! Huh? Tails: Sonic has asked me for the first time to do something for him, I won't let him down. I won't give up!	Most of the dialogue is different. Please note that Tails It's not fair! Eggman!/テイルス：やりかたが汚いぞ！エッグマン！！ is unused in the final.

Sonic and Shadow (After Final Chase)

I'm Sonic the Hedgehog. Shadow: I see. But, I can't allow your existence. Your adventuring days are over!	Shadow: You never cease to surprise me blue hedgehog. I thought that the capsule you were in exploded in space. Sonic: You know, what can I say... I die hard! Shadow: So, there's more to you than just looking like me. What are you anyway? Sonic: What you see is what you get! Just a guy that loves adventure! I'm Sonic the Hedgehog! Shadow: I see. But you know, I can't let you live. Your adventuring days are coming to an end.	There's much less dialogue in the early version, it's also entirely different.
