Proto:Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back (Game Boy Color)

This page details one or more prototype versions of Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back (Game Boy Color).

For whatever reason, Li Cheng (and possibly Makon Soft themselves) decided to pick up a late debug-enabled build and reskin it into a variant called 数码宝贝:火箭兵团, also known as Pokémon Ruby (to tie-in with the Pokémon Sapphire variant of Super Mario Special 3).

General Differences

  • You start with unlimited lives.
  • You can select the stages by pressing A and B on the stage intro screen.
  • Pikachu is invisible (as it was colored red) and will destroy enemies (and even bosses!) upon contact. Unfortunately, beating a boss this way doesn't actually do anything except softlock the game. You can still properly defeat bosses with electricity attacks, though.
  • The game crashes after you beat it.
