This page sucks.
If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome.
Specifically: There really is barely any info to list on this build. Perhaps spice it up with some screenshots or something?

There is only one prototype known to the public, known as "9.0". It is dated Feb 23, 1999, which is just one day before the final build. Obviously, there are barely any differences between this prototype build and the final game, although this doesn't make this build any less valuable.

Known Differences

  • Debug info is shown during gameplay.
  • Despite this being a NTSC-U/C build, all cars exclusive to the Australian release and their data are present on this build and can be driven without hacking the game (except, perhaps the HSV police car, as Durham Road is still listed as English track here).
  • Gameplay is somewhat less stable (at least in emulators).
  • Title screen is missing or not showing up.

Debug Files

This build includes two debug-related files, NFS4.MAP and NFS4.SYM files. These two files can be given to a disassembler tool and their existence basically allows the entire game's decompilation to its source code.
