Placing fluids (water or lava) with a bucket treats other fluid source blocks like solid blocks, allowing the player to place them on top of each other without an adjacent wall.
Gameplay
Status Effects
A swirl effect now shows up on players that are under the effect of a status effect.
Sun and Moon
- The Sun and Moon now rise in the east and set in the west, based on the top of maps being North, but introduce a horrible game-breaking new change; they're now...round. This thankfully would be reverted in Beta 1.9 Prerelease 6.
- There are now moon phases, akin to the actual Moon.
General
Texture Packs
The player can now reload the texture pack by pressing F3 and T at the same time.
Version Number
The version number no longer displays.
Bug Fixes
- Enchanting is now server-side instead of being only a client-side change.
- The Shift + Click crash bug with enchanting tables and brewing stands has been fixed.
- Critical hits now appear in multiplayer.
- Glass towers stretching to the top of the map no longer appear over strongholds.
- All minecart with furnace bugs, except the lighting bug, have been fixed.
