A demo for PC was released November 6, 2008 to those who pre-ordered the game through Steam, GameStop, or EB Games. It was then released to the public alongside an identical Xbox 360 demo on November 11.
It contains the first two chapters of the No Mercy campaign, playable in the co-op mode, both locally and online. The demo is not available for download anymore.
Exploits
When using console commands, the player can play as the Infected and enable the split-screen feature. A patch released November 10, 2008 removed this.
