How about a nice leek in this trying time?
This page or section details content from the Hotline Miami Leak.
Check the Hotline Miami Leak category for more pages also sourced from this material.

Two prototypes of Hotline Miami (then known as Cocaine Cowboy) and their source .gmk files were leaked onto the Hotline Miami subreddit but were eventually deleted. Luckily, they were archived before being wiped off the net. The source .gm6 for Super Carnage was found to be hosted on an archive of the website 64 Digits. These builds were acquired from the developers' hacked Dropbox accounts.

This page currently documents the Cocaine Cowboy build, and not Super Carnage.

This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Hmmm...
To do:
  • Find a better way to take screengrabs. Current method to run the game in windowed mode is not in the correct screen res.
  • Super Carnage has also been found, add it to the article.

Level Select

The 10 levels used in this build.

This menu is used to select any of the 10 missions in this build of the game.

Notes

  • Machine guns are very buggy and are prone to crashing in this build.
  • The original executable used .mp3 for music. A fixed executable with .ogg support was also added.
  • Mask sprites are present in the files, but the mask menu and its logic are not present.

Controls

Only used within this build.
  • Space quits the game back to the level select.
  • Right click is used to grab enemies laying on the ground rather than Space.
  • Enter is used to move to the next level, unique text for this option is also present.
  • Middle mouse button to lock onto targets is not present.

Development-related Text

Opening the source .gmk and checking "Game Information" shows some development text. This is different than the information given in the final build. Interestingly, it mentions a co-op mode that never saw the light of day.
