Proto:Half-Life: Blue Shift (PC)/April 20th 2001 Prototype
This is a sub-page of Proto:Half-Life: Blue Shift (PC).
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
This build was compiled on April 20th, 2001 for the Dreamcast and is build 1638. It contains an early version of Blue-Shift with some differences. For other changes unrelated to Blue-Shift see the Half-Life Dreamcast Port page.

Unused Graphics
Menu Backdrops
The Original retail versions of Half-Life had unique images for the loading and console screens. In Blue Shift's directory, CACHED.WAD has graphics which seem to be early variants for the campaign. Notably, they're also the oldest Blue Shift related files, both being last modified December 14, 1999.
Map Textures
Within BARNEY.WAD are a few early textures meant for the power cell. They are used in the 10 September 2000 build (Build 1417).
A few textures meant for the chapter Power Struggle of Blue Shift, with coolant misspelled as "coolent".
Miscellaneous
Oddly, two logos are featured in BARNEY.WAD that were likely used in some sort of demonstration of the High Definition models.
Map Differences
There are a few design differences in some maps present in this build.

In the May builds, the room leading to the coolant pump was shortened, and the upper area is narrower. One headcrab and two empty crates were removed from the area.
