Cactus 2.0!
This article has just been started and needs the article basics added.
Help us out and add them.
Hmmm...
To do:
Absolutely everything
  • Specialty Buildings have been partially implemented, but work completely differently from the final version
  • Some tower sprites are different from the final game, like Bloonjitsu
  • This prototype uses files called SpriteControllers that don't exist in the final game, figure out what purpose they serve and what the PlasmaTank and SpinningFireball controllers are for (if they're even used)
  • Premium upgrades have more data than in the final game

General Differences

  • The app icon was from a prototype of BTD5, with the number 2 written in black marker on the top right, suggesting it was a secondary build used for testing or it is just a preview build just like one of those Crash Bandicoot: Warped discs.
  • The title screen is simply a screenshot of the one from the Flash version.
  • All the game's JSON files are stored in a regular folder, unlike in the final version, where they are stored in a password-protected zip file.
  • Aircraft use a separate file type in this version, unlike in the final, where they use the same file structure as towers.

Unimplemented Features

  • Special Agents
  • Ranks
  • Medals
  • Currencies
  • Special Missions
  • Random Missions
  • Monkey Lab
  • Leaderboards

Towers

This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

Most towers are present in varying stages of completion, except for the Heli Pilot, which is completely absent.

  • Most towers use their descriptions from the Flash version instead of the simplified descriptions in the final game.
  • All towers have their unlock ranks specified, even though ranks themselves are not implemented in this version and all towers are available by default.
  • Upgrades do not have XP requirements, costs, icons, portraits, or descriptions yet.
  • Pop count does not function yet. All towers display a placeholder pop count of 24, including the Banana Farm.
  • Activated Abilities have not been implemented yet.

Note that this section compares towers to version 1.0, not the current version, which has several balance changes.

  • Razor Sharp Shots pierce bonus: 1 β†’ 2

Tack Shooter

  • MOAB-Class Bloons use recolored sprites of regular Bloons in this build as placeholders, although their actual graphics already exist in the files.
  • MOAB-Class Bloons are only immune to the basic ice and glue statuses, unlike in the final version, where they are also immune to damage over time, wind, other forms of slow, and other ice-related statuses such as permafrost.

Tracks

BTD5-iPhone track select.png

Only six tracks have been implemented at this point: Monkey Lane, Park Path, Archipelago, Switch, Clock, and Monkey Town.

  • Unlike in the final version (and all other versions), Monkey Town is treated as a regular track and isn't exclusive to a Special Mission.
  • The track selection screen displays the track thumbnail on wooden rollers that rotate when scrolling through the tracks. This is done by splitting each track thumbnail into six vertical slices, unlike in the final version, where the thumbnail is a single image.
  • Tracks do not display their names yet.
  • The track selection screen has spaces for bronze, silver, and gold medals, but medals have not been implemented yet and winning doesn't unlock anything.
  • Tracks do not have their own mode files yet. In the final game, these files specify the difficulty of the track and the rewards.
  • Extreme tracks do not exist yet.
  • Tracks are divided into "packs" based on their Track Type (track difficulty), in a similar manner to the ports of Bloons Tower Defense 3. The thumbnails for these packs are absent from the final game.
