Model and Attire Differences

Several wrestlers had different models and attires in pre-release versions of the game. Strangely enough, the models that were showcased in pre-release versions are more detailed and accurate to a wrestler's build, face and persona. The reasoning for the models declining in quality through the game's development is unknown. Some attires shown in the pre-release versions of the game remain hidden in the retail game while others were removed altogether.

Wrestler Differences Prerelease Retail
Hillbilly Jim Hillbilly Jim had a completely different outfit in pre-release screenshots to the one he ended up with in the final game. His back area was exposed in pre-release screenshots and the overalls he was wearing were much darker than the retail ones. His pre-release attire does not exist on the retail game. 2021-02-13 18 31 00-Window.png WWE Smackdown HCTP-Hilibilly Jim Final.png
Roddy Piper Roddy's appearance in pre-release screenshots showed off a model that was from a completely different era of the Hot Rod's career. His appearance in pre-release screenshots was from the 1980s, whereas his retail appearance was of his 2003 return. Rather than having separate slots for "Legend" and current characters in the vein of Undertaker and Hulk Hogan, Roddy's 1980s model is absent from the game. 2021-02-13 18 32 03-Window.png WWE Smackdown HCTP-Roddy Piper Final.png
Stacy Keibler Stacy's attire in pre-release screenshots, such as the ones in the official strategy guide, have her in an attire identical to the retail game, only with "I Love My Testicles" and "Test" logos on her shirt. 2021-02-13 17 54 21-Window.png WWE Smackdown HCTP-Stacey Keibler Final.png
Triple H Triple H was tremendously built in late 2002 - mid 2003, and the pre-release model was more accurate both to his body and head shape at the time. The head and body shape and hair color for the retail model was inaccurate in comparison to Triple H's appearance at the time. Triple H had a total of four models throughout the game's development. This is a comparison of the second and fourth (retail) models. Ultimo Dragon Ultimo's attire in pre-release screenshots, such as the ones in the official strategy guide, had him wearing an attire that is a much lighter shade of blue. This pre-release attire was replaced with a darker attire in the retail game, and the pre-release attire was wiped from the retail game. 2021-02-13 17 36 24-Window.png WWE Smackdown HCTP-Ultimo Dragon Final.png
Undertaker Undertaker had a "Deadman Inc." logo in pre-release screenshots, but the logo is absent in the retail game. The logo still exists but has to be reapplied to the model. 2021-02-13 18 30 15-Window.png WWE Smackdown HCTP-Undertaker Final.png
