Prerelease:The Misadventures of Tron Bonne
This page details pre-release information and/or media for The Misadventures of Tron Bonne.
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
This page sucks. If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome. |
To do: Lot more stuff. |
The Misadventures of Tron Bonne would be announced in December 1998 [1]. Between the seven month period before release, the game underwent several considerable changes in development.
Contents
Mission 1-1
Outdoors
- The life gauge is different.
- The Zenny gauge is red instead of gray and had some details changed.
- The Fish items taken by Servbots are darker.
In some parts, thought bubbles can be seen above a Servbot's head. While not used in the final version, similar balloons are present in the game's files, showing that they were worked on before being scrapped.
Indoors
The house invaded by the Servbots in Mission 1-1, which was actually a pre-rendered background, is in a rough draft form. The Servbots appear to behave differently.
Mission 2
The part of the boat where crates are placed is different, and there is an arrow pointing up on its side. The floor is missing the arrow and the "STOP" text.
Mission 3
Mission 3 objects that could be interacted had an indicator of what could be done with them, like しらべる ("Investigate") and スイッチおす ("Press Switch").
Roxette's palette is different, the hair appearing to be bugged.
The Mission 3 item shown in the video is invisible, with only a shine indicating its position, and the item's picture box is different.
This appears to be an early version of the tips that Uncle Digg left in the walls from Mission 2.
Lex Loath
The room Lex Loath appears for the first time is missing some details, like his table and the chandelier.
Meeting Room
Mission Select
A very early mission select screen from Dengeki PlayStation #103 (April 9, 1999). The Servbot is sad. The map in the back has pictures over it, which appear to be the same displayed when a mission is selected. The harbor mission picture shows Gustaff Tank lifting a crate with the text "Bay Area", and there is a "temporary" kanji above the Servbot.
A latter version of the mission selection that is closer to the final, but the island's design changed a bit. The highlighted mission images and different, and the pictures are smaller in the final version.
Briefing
Tron's celloid on the Gesellschaft appears less refined when compared to the final.
Training Room
Also, the Servbot that replaces the targets in the training area is walking instead of running.
Promotional Videos
Concept Art
Plenty of character and location illustrations were featured in the Japanese Tron ni Kobun Otakara Gappori Guide (トロンにコブン お宝ガッポリガイド) that exhibited fascinating conceptual takes of areas and characters that didn't materialize in the final.
