Prerelease Footage

E3 2002

A video was made available on Nintendo's online press kit.

A Link to the Past

  • Voices have yet to be implemented.
  • The HUD is identical to the SNES version.
  • For whatever reason, the audio appears to bug out at the end of the video.

Four Swords

  • The graphics look rough overall.
  • Link's design looks closer to the look seen in the Spaceworld 2001 teaser for The Wind Waker with brown sleeves.
  • The sword and shield are held out instead of only appearing when used.
  • Voices have yet to be implemented.
  • Icons for items resemble how they appeared in the Oracle games rather than their later more unique appearances. The Magnet Glove in particular looks more similar to the one in Oracle of Seasons.
  • The rupee icon is green instead of blue. This would later be reverted in Four Swords Anniversary Edition.
  • The stage indicator is a floor indicator, while also lacking the world icon.
  • A key counter is present in the lower-right corner instead of appearing overhead after collecting one.

September 2002

More footage was present on promo DVDs called Tsubuyori Disc that were handed out in stores in Japan.

No visible changes are present in the footage of A Link to the Past.

Four Swords

  • The graphics have been updated and the voice clips are also implemented.
  • The stage indicator has been updated but still uses the old design.
  • The crystals in the results screen look a bit rougher.
  • The player indicators in the results screen lack color.
