Prerelease:Tales of Phantasia (SNES)
This page details pre-release information and/or media for Tales of Phantasia (SNES).
To do: There's a video showcasing Tale Phantasia, even if the game development was near to end, some differences are noticed. (Especially Yuma-Wa Owaranai which is played with a different arrangement at 4:29, it's also listed as the second song. Maybe there are other differences from the final release.) |
Tale Phantasia
First Image
There's very little image documentation of this before the game's name was changed to "Tales of Phantasia" from "Tale Phantasia" but there is a substantial amount of information known about the game's original story before changes were made.
The first image thus far is the earliest known image of Tale Phantasia. The significant details to notice are:
- The game's logo being "Tale Phantasia".
- The unused destroyed castle background.
- Rambard is in battle!
- The voice actors include Cless, Mint, Rambard, Arche and Klarth. Chester is excluded from the list!
Rambard's voice actor is listed as Kaneto Shiozawa (塩沢 兼人) which is also Dhaos's voice actor.
Second Image
The second image comes from a much later date from appearances. Chester's name can be seen so he's included back into the character list. However, there's a few details to be noted. The world minimap has a completely different design compared to the original, which can be seen below and Cless' version of the status screen has significant changes when compared to the original.
The differences are as follows:
- Titles were listed to the right side of a character's level instead of below the character name.
- There appears to be only one accessory listed on the equipment to the far right instead of the two that are normally there.
- Cless' skills were listed directly underneath his equipment with their ranges indicated.
- To the left of Cless' skills are Defense, Accuracy, and Evasion as percentile stats instead of numerical.
Video
Prototype footage of the game under its old title can be found on a preview tape.
The footage doesn't display Rambard, so this is probably a later version of the game again. But the title logo is still Tale Phantasia, the unused castle background is shown and the intro song 'Yume de Owaranai' has a very odd sounding instrumentation.
