This page details pre-release information and/or media for Sonic Advance 2.

Sonic Mega Collection Trailer

When Sonic Mega Collection was released, a trailer of Sonic Advance 2 and an illustration of Cream the Rabbit were included in the Extras menu. The build shown in the trailer seems to be nearly complete, with only a few minor changes:

• Everything is unlocked at the start.
• The title screen background is just a scrolling checkered pattern. The graphics are still in the final game's data.
• The background in the character select is just blue. The final game has the word "SA2" scrolling up-right.
• The character sprites for the character select are Sonic Advance's.
• Amy is missing.
• Knuckles' falling sprites are the same ones from Sonic Advance.
• The overworld map screen has many differences:
  • The icons for characters are off-center.
  • Zone names aren't shown, likely to avoid spoilers.
  • Chaos Emeralds aren't shown.
  • The map itself looks slightly different:
    • Leaf Forest Zone is missing a lake, some paths are missing, and the grass is also much darker.
    • Hot Crater looks less...well, hot. It's also missing a red section at the top right.
    • Music Plant is smaller, missing the guitar piece of land.
    • Ice Paradise has more shading in the final.
    • The strange area at the top right is missing some structures.

Stage Differences

• The background for the Leaf Forest Boss is arranged differently.
• Hot Crater's tubes are in-front of the player in the trailer, in the final, they're behind.
• Only the top part of Ice Paradise's background scrolls in the prototype.
• Music Plant has an orange background in the trailer, in the final, it's pink.

Cut Song

The trailer plays a song that isn't in the final game at all. It's unknown where it was meant to be used, though it could possibly be an early version of Leaf Forest Zone Act 1.

Early Images

Leaf Forest

This image was used during Cream's reveal. Also note how Amy's life icon is using Cream's palette. Later versions of this image used a fixed version with Cream's life counter. It is also impossible for all characters to be present at once outside of multiplayer. Notice how Cheese is absent in this image and whether he's offscreen or not is unknown.
