Prerelease:Farming Simulator 2011
This page details pre-release information and/or media for Farming Simulator 2011.
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
After the release of Farming Simulator 2009, a sequel was bound to happen. It is unknown when the development started, but a likely date is somewhere near the release or development of FS2009 Gold edition. To keep the fans updated, a few prerelease demo versions were unveiled at gaming conventions.
Development timeline
Some dates in this game's development points are unknown, but can be approximated.
- 2009
- Q3/Q4 2009 - Development began alongside or before FS2009 Gold edition.
- 2010
- 2011
- 2012
- May 18th - Farming Classics DLC releases on Windows. [7]
Trailer build
This build was only shown off in the game's trailer. It is almost identical to the Gamescom 2010 one, with only a few exceptions. [9]
FS2009 Farmer model
The used Farmer model in this build looks to be the one from Farming Simulator 2009. All later builds use the final FS2011 one.

Deutz-Fahr Agrofarm 430 early texture
The Agrofarm 430's steering wheel texture once featured the Deutz-Fahr logo, but the logo was removed from the final release for an unknown reason.

Broken textures
This build features a few texture rendering issues, those being:
- Shadows. Some vehicles in this build, like the Agroplus 77 pictured above, had broken shadows, with only the wheels and tool hitches having them.
- Windows. These textures seemingly only render on the outside, like on the Agrofarm 430 pictured above.
FS2009 barley and straw textures
At this point in development FS2009's barley and straw textures were used.

Gamescom 2010 preview / Steam screenshots build
This build was shown off at Gamescom 2010, somewhere around August. This build is close to the release one, as not that much differences are present. It, like the name says, was for some reason used for taking screenshots featured on the game's Steam page. Aside from the abovementioned Steam screenshots, no high quality media was captured but luckily, 2 YouTube videos by the users Fendt Favorit and D i x o n are still available.
Starting equipment
It appears that in career mode, instead of spawning with the final game's starting machinery consisted of underpowered machines, the player is given more powerful equipment. Considering this was a demonstration, it only made sense to do just that.
The machinery at the farm:
- Lizard 422
- Deutz-Fahr Agroplus 77
- Deutz-Fahr Agrofarm 430
- Deutz-Fahr Agrotron K420
- Deutz-Fahr Agrotron X720
- Deutz-Fahr 5695 HTS and grain header
- Poettinger SERVO 35 S
- Poettinger Aerosem 3000
- Monsoon Triton 500
- Medium Tipper
- Krone Big Pack 1290
- Automatic bale loader
The machinery near the Cow pasture:
- Deutz-Fahr Agrofarm 430 Front loader and bucket
- Manure Spreader
- Slurry Tanker

In the final release the Agrofarm 430 can only be spawned with front loader arms, however the first 2 playable builds feature the same tractor without such capabilities. Despite being used at one point in the development, it was never advertised on the official website.
Fields
Some fields that are clear in the final build have a crop growing on them. This is, like the expanded starting machinery, done to make it easier to use the new equipment.
Cow pasture area differences

In this build the manure pile is always full and open to demonstrate the front loader bucket and manure spreader functionalities. The silage silos next to it is the same model from FS2009, being replaced with a new one in the final build. The feeding through is also absent.

Moreover, the white tank was moved to the right side of the shed, and the grass texture was pulled more towards the fence.
Early wheels
All of the wheels featured in this build rely more on textures and have smoother edges, making them look quite unrealistic. Thankfully, in the release build they were replaced by more detailed and rougher ones.

Scrapped traffic car colors
Also absent from the shipped release is a purple AI traffic car color, cut for an unknown reason.
