Pokémon Masters EX/Audio/Changed Voicelines

This is a sub-page of Pokémon Masters EX/Audio.

Some voicelines have been changed from update to update. This can be from voice actors (Seiyu in Japan) retiring or various other reasons. The old audio will be placed on the left with a comparison of the new audio on the right.

Agatha

Agatha's 10th voice line (used for scouting a Sync Pair's same model alt, such as BPs or Lodge) was changed from a unique voice clip to an exact copy of her existing scouted voice line. It's unknown the exact update it was changed but the old voiceline is present in a video uploaded June 2021 by dataminer Absol-utelyPM.

"Woo-hoo! Come child, let this old Golbat take you under her wing!" "I'm Agatha, of the Indigo Elite Four. Let's see what you can do child."

Lear

Lear is the Prince of Pasio and creator of the PML tournament. When the player meets Lear he is a wreckless trainer. Gradually after learning life lessons from Cheren and reuniting with his true partner Pokémon Hoopa, he undergoes a change of heart. Lear first appears as a Boss enemy and later a single-stage playable character in the Main Story. To commemorate the ending of the Main Story Lear was released in version 2.11.0 as a scoutable Tech Sync Pair. The boss version of Lear and the intended playable version of Lear use different voicelines. The Boss Lear voicelines can still be heard in the Main Story and older event cutscenes. The boss Lear has 53 voicelines, while the playable version has 75 like other Sync Pairs.

Rachel

One of Lear's Retainers and Childhood Friend. She has a laid-back personality. Much like Lear, Rachel first appears in the Main Story as a Boss enemy and single-stage playable character. She also appears in the Battle Villa at stage 5 using a Lapras. In version 2.11.0 Rachel was released as a scoutable Support Sync Pair with Umbreon, the same Pokemon she uses in the Main Story. Just like Lear, The boss version of Rachel and the intended playable version of Rachel use different voicelines. The Boss Rachel voicelines can still be heard in the Main Story and Battle Villa stage. The boss Rachel has 53 voicelines, while the playable version has 75 like other Sync Pairs.

Sawyer

One of Lear's Retainers and his most Loyal servant. Sawyer has a big figure and a figuratively bigger heart. Sawyer first appears in the Main Story as a Boss enemy and single-stage playable character. He also appears in the Battle Villa at stage 30 using Bewear. In version 2.11.0 Sawyer was released as a scoutable Support Sync Pair with Honchkrow, the same Pokemon he uses in the Main Story. Just like Lear and Rachel before him, The boss version of Sawyer and the intended playable version of Sawyer use different voicelines. The Boss Sawyer voicelines can still be heard in the Main Story and Battle Villa stage. The boss Sawyer has 53 voicelines, while the playable version has 75 like other Sync Pairs.

Paulo

Paulo is a rival character you encounter during the Main Story. He is the Boss character of Chapter 22. He later meets up with his old friend Tina. After the Kanto Villain Arc, Paulo goes down a dark path, penultimately unleashing Hoopa Unbound in the process. After having it taken away by Giovanni, he realises his mistakes and starts over again as a Trainer once Giovanni is defeated. In version 2.36.0 to commemorate the end of the Villain Arc, Paulo was released as a Sprint Sync Pair with his partner Pokemon Dusk Lycanroc. The Boss version of Paulo and the playable version of Paulo have different voicelines. The Boss voicelines can still be heard in the Main Story and all but the final chapter of the Villain Arc.

Paulo's 36th voice clip was changed at some point (likely when he became a playable Sync Pair around the 4th Anniversary). This is a newer recording as Paulo's old and new voices are very different.

"Hello?" "Hey."

Thorton

In version 2.17.0 one of Thorton's English voicelines was changed for seemingly no reason. None of Thorton's other voicelines were changed.

Before 2.17.0 After (Current)
"Wow! This is quite special!" "See? Just as Analyzed."

Tina

Tina (originally known as Camilla in the game's beta) is a character who appears in the Paulo Arc and Villain Arc. Unlike the other Pasio-original characters, Tina is the only one who isn't battled by the Player at any point before her Sync Pair release. She also made an appearance in the That Classic Thunderbolt Story Event. In version 2.36.0 to commemorate the end of the Villain Arc Tina was released as a Support Sync Pair with her partner Pokemon Flareon. The NPC and Playable versions of Tina use different voicelines. The NPC voicelines can still be heard in the Paulo Arc, Story Event and all but the final chapter of the Villain Arc. Because the NPC Tina doesn't battle, all her NPC Battle Voicelines go unused.

Tate

Tate's old Japanese Seiyu, Ami Naga (アミ・ナガ) was replaced with Yuna Ogata (湯な 尾形) in version 2.34.0 in conjuction with Tate (Summer 2023) & Jirachi's release. This change also affects the normal Tate & Solrock Sync Pair. In addition, Tate was also given new team-up voicelines after this change occurred. The reason for this is speculated to be that Ami Naga retired from the voice acting industry or DeNA needed to hire a new Seiyu entirely for the new Summer Sync Pair and team-up voicelines alongside it.

Brycen

In version 2.44.0 Brycen's Japanese voicelines were updated, likely because of his Brycen-Man Special Costume Sync Pair that was released the same update. He also received team-up and victory voicelines with Sabrina and some other characters. He retains the same Seiyu, Hiromichi Kogami (小上裕通).

Gardenia

Mirroring 2023's summer seasonal star, Gardenia's old Japanese Seiyu, Haruka Ito (伊藤はるかが) retired and was replaced with Yu Serizawa (芹澤 優) starting in version 2.46.0 with the release of Gardenia (Summer 2024) and Dhelmise. This change affects the existing Gardenia & Roserade Sync Pair. Likewise, Gardenia got team-up voicelines added afterwards with Candice and Maylene.
