Hmmm...
To do:
Fully document the prototype.

Out of This World is a game about a scientist named Lester Knight Chaykin, who has the fantastic idea of performing an experiment during a thunderstorm. As a result, lightning strikes his lab, teleporting him... Out of This World.

Unfortunately, the alien world he finds himself on is hostile, and he and his new alien friend must do everything they can to survive.

Unused Song

This song was used in an early version of the game, but goes unused in the final version where it was replaced by silence possibly for a better ambient effect.

Unused Passwords

  • HHFL - Goes to a black screen, no sound can be heard in this version, but the game doesn't crash as you can still pause and move around.
  • KRTD - Goes directly to the Ending. It is never shown in-game.

Oddities

The song that plays as Lester wakes up to find he is in captivity gets cut off after Buddy blinks. However, the full track can be heard in the prototype ROM, as the cutscene animates more slowly.

The computer from the Introduction interestingly has an unused version of the fake boot screen found at 0x4CD8. It should be noted that in the game's font, } appears as c.

Created on an Apple IIgs, Apple II Infinitum!!

This text is found at offset 0x600. It's almost certainly from Rebecca Heineman, the port developer and noted Apple IIgs fan.
