Marvel Land (Genesis)
Marvel Land |

Also known as: Talmit's Adventure (EU) This game has hidden developer credits. |
A decent port of the arcade platformer... also the only one, for that matter.

Hidden Text
A little developer message(?) is found with the game's HUD graphics. The text (仁科だよ〜ん) translates to "It's Nishina~! ❤". Just who Nishina is, is anybody's guess.
This message doesn't appear in the Japanese version; only the US and European versions.
Level Select
Normal and Game Master | Digest |
---|---|
Enter ARDE (Normal Difficulty), GIL AND KI (Digest Difficulty), or KARDE (Game Master Difficulty) as a password. The difficulty must be set to the corresponding level in the options menu for each password to work.
Regional Differences
Title Screen
Japan | US | Europe |
---|---|---|
The title screen is different between all regions. The game was renamed Talmit's Adventure for Europe.
The Japanese version plays the intro sequence after waiting at the title screen. The international versions move it to the beginning of the game.
Options
The lives option was overhauled. The Japanese version allows you to freely adjust your starting lives count from 3 to 5. The international versions remove this ability, but adjusts the starting amount based on difficulty level. "Digest" gives you 7, "Normal" gives you 5, and "Game Master" gives you 3.

A new default control scheme was created. The Japanese default was added to a fourth option, albeit with the A button actually doing something.

Talmit got a haircut, presumably to make the already girlish Prince less so.

Bunny lost her bunny ears and tail. She's still named Bunny, though. Her hair and body have been redrawn. Prince Talmit's hair changes are persistent for these cutscenes.

The text on the trash cans was changed from "DUST" to "PUSH".
Japan | International |
---|---|
The giant hexagram with the rotating platforms in World 1-7 was changed to a star.

Pac-Man got a nose job; the shorter-nosed rendition Pac-Man is much more familiar among western audiences.
Ending
Japan | International |
---|---|
Ken Lobb and Jim Curry were added to the staff roll as "special advisers".
Special messages were added to the end of each difficulty level, like in other games Ken Lobb was involved with.
