The Abbey of Crime is a murder mystery set in a Benedictine abbey that features a pious obedience meter (seriously). It was never translated from the original Spanish, though fan translations now exist. It also has a somewhat creepy anti-piracy method.

Anti-Piracy

The game checks to see how the palette is loaded at launch, then looks to see if the audio tracks are stored in their original configurations. If the results are unexpected, it initiates its copy protection.

During normal gameplay, a snippet of Franz Schubert's Ave Maria plays when the player enters the abbey. If the copy protection is activated, this is instead replaced with a voice that shouts "¡PIRATA!" (pirate) several times in descending tones, before the code jumps and hangs on a black screen. This occurs in all ports of the game.
