ProtoIcon.png This game has a prototype article

The director of Jackass gets into an "accident", so you must take his place and film stunts for the show. Basically, a collection of surprisingly fun minigames! (Bam Margera not included; he was under contract with Activision to be in Tony Hawk's Proving Ground at the time)

Also notable for being one of the few PS2 games to allow 1080i resolution. Because why not?

Hmmm...
To do:
Look into DATA/PS2/PKCMN/data/ps2/downloadablestunts/pachinkodl. The PSP version had support for downloading stunts but none were ever released.

Unused Graphics

Placeholder Images

Placeholders for almost every type of menu or UI, even some from the PSP version, such as the medals.

Other Images

Jackass Bg 1.png
An unknown background.

Jackass-start01.png
An early title screen.

Jackass-Jam video vo.png
A store icon for the Jackass V/O footage, which you cannot buy, as it is unlocked by other means.

Jackass-Tv jackasstestpattern.png
An image most likely meant to be displayed on the TV when you are on a locked minigame. Goes unused as you cannot see any locked levels before unlocking them.

Jackass-Euico.png
An icon meant for the Extreme Unicycling.

Jackass-Ico mtvgames.png
An unused objective icon featuring the MTV Games logo.

Unused Used
Jackass-attendant costume03.png Jackass-attendant costume01.png

The Attendant has a third unused outfit, which is a slight reskin of his default outfit.

Unused Used
Jackass-custom3.png Jackass-steveo-face.png

Found mixed in with HUD graphics is an early version of Steve-O's face texture, named custom3.

Jackass-vehicle cart pimpedgolfcart.png Jackass-vehicle cart silhouette.png

An early version of the "Pimped Golf Cart" prop and a corresponding silhouette, the final uses a totally different black design. While other prop renders are in their own folder, this one is in the main folder for menu graphics.

Two additional HUD elements for Rock Paper Nuts and corresponding text for an on-screen controls display. Presumably you were able to defend yourself by pressing left, if you were to lose a round.

Unused Used
Jackass-WeeFace.png Jackass-WeeWhacked.png

A neutral Wee Man face found in the HUD textures. A wincing Wee Man is used in the hit counter for Whac a Wee Man.

Jackass-GLeeDecal.png

The unlockable "General Lee" bumper car has an unused decal in its textures. This was used in the prototype.

Unused Used
Jackass-Prop fridge02.png Jackass-Prop fridge01.png

An alternate image for the Fridge prop.

Some early character renders and a background to match which were left behind in the menu graphics.

Character select renders for Wee-Man. He only appears in "Wee-Games" and cannot be chosen.

Unused Audio

Steve-O's sound files contain some placeholders by definitely-not-Steve-O.

Unused Characters

Bam Margera and Raab Himself

Bam or Raab don't appear in the game. Bam most likely because of his inclusion in Activision's Tony Hawk series. Dialogue for them exists on the disc, but nothing else seems to remain besides a few strings in strings_uk.xds. They both use the same lines, with Raab's labeled "chrisr". These were most likely placeholder sounds (them being uncensored and the voice not sounding like Bam's supporting this).

Victor and the Director

Hmmm...
To do:
See if there's a way to make Victor playable.

An unknown character called Victor also exists on the disc, and is the only unused character who has all of his files still on the disc. The Director is an early version of Jeff Tremaine, with a different design. His files have been overwritten with the final Jeff Tremaine files. Victor and the Director both use Dimitry Elyashkevich's voice as a placeholder.

Cut Stunts

Hmmm...
To do:
See if it's possible to make Puppeteer playable.

The strings_uk.xds file includes references to cut stunts, including their names, controls and objectives. DATA/PS2/SOUNDS/STUNT also contains some sound effects belonging to these stunts, which are mostly ones also used elsewhere. The only unique unused SFX include the sound of fireworks for 4th of July.

Main Option/Level Name Level Goal Level Help (controls)
4th of July Take out # Jackasses Aim (left, right)
Bus Surfing Ride the route Move (left, right, forwards, backwards), Jump, Crouch
Fox Hunt Run over # foxes Steer (left, right), Accelerate, Slow
Training Get to the front Move (left, right, forwards, backwards), Jump, Crouch
Freeway Frog Collect the roadkill Sideways (left, right), Forward, Back, Sprint
Urban Bungy Collect # boxes Sideways (left, right), Jump
Elevate Reach the bottom door Turn (left, right), Forward, Back, Jump (auto hold)
Environed N/A N/A
Placeholder Stunt N/A N/A

Also in the same file is HUD text for Freeway Frog.

collect all items and cross safely to finish

Puppeteer

The only unused minigame that has all of its files intact and on the disc. The game was featured in the PlayStation Portable version of the game and basically a bare bones model viewer that lets you play a few animations on the models.

Unused Scripts

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.

File: JackassPS2 OldScripts.7z (31KB) (info)

The files for Big Balls, Golf Rally and New York Pogo contain unused, older and uncompiled revisions of the lua scripts for those stunts. These include a description of the stunt, the author and all the different variables complete with notes. The "prototype" script for Big Balls seems to be a copy of the script for San Fran Trash Can. Golf Rally has three unused revisions (new, prt and arg) and New York Pogo has two (working and lag). Below is an excerpt from the Big Balls script.

A set of early goals, with only one per stunt. Most of these were included in the final sets of goals, but the unique unused goals are listed below. This same list also includes the completely scrapped stunts which are covered in their own section. Of particular note are Short Fighter and Demolition Golf, which make mention of Bam and his parents.

Stunt Goal
Extreme Unicycling Bring down # items of clothing.
Bumper Kings Knock them off!
Meat Man Collect the auto parts!
Big Balls Knock over # pins!
Elephant Poo Dive Pull off the requested moves.
Roof Top Cart Stop Stop the furthest without falling off.
Short Fighter Destroy Bam's car in 60 seconds flat.
Extreme Juggling Keep Wee Man juggling for as long as you can.
Wee Hand Watch the hand.
Wee Tattoo Draw within the lines.
Poo Shower Defend yourself from the shower of poo.
Demolition Golf Destroy Phil and April's House.
Poo Tug Win the tug of war.
Rock Paper Nuts Choose the right attack.

Early Tracklist

strings_uk.xds also contains an early tracklist with a whopping 59 songs listed, 26 of which are actually in the game. All of these tracks appeared in the prototype, except for Uncertainly by Panthers.

NOTE: While "Corona" (Jackass theme) is used in the game, it's never played during stunts (which is when this info is usually shown), making the text go unused.
