Gadget Racers (PlayStation 2, 2002)
Gadget Racers |
---|
Also known as: Choro Q HG 3 (JP) This game has unused text. |
Gadget Racers, as its Japanese name may suggest, is the followup to Choro Q HG 2 (aka Everywhere Road Trip), this time focusing far more on customization to the point of removing the open world. It was also the second and last entry to be developed by E-game, as Barnhouse Effect would create most future entries in the series. An American version was planned to be released as "Road Trip: Adventure Avenue", but was cancelled.
Not to be confused with the five other games in the series released as Gadget Racers.
Regional Differences
Several features were cut out and changed for unknown reasons.
Unused Text
RT-Tronic
While the tutorial for the RT-Tronic was cut from the European version, unused English text for it is present. There are a couple of typos within the strings.
The mail received after completing the tutorial was also translated, but since the tutorial was cut, this mail is never received. The mail is called "It's the Summary!"
From RT-Tronic How was the lesson while you were in dream school, was it helpful? Wheelie Jump Wheelie Jump Using these 3 actions well, I hope you race and get to place!
Debug Menu
By using the code 202052B0 24A5566C in the European version or 20204440 24A5EF40 in the Japanese version, a debug mode can be accessed by selecting New Game. The options are mostly the same as what's present in the previous game.
- Course Debug - Allows choosing a course to race on. Selecting a course in this menu will give you 4 Japanese options which respectively translate to short, medium, long and free. After making a selection, you will be loaded into the track, but no other racers will be present. You can also select non race tracks, such as other overworld cities.
- Race Debug - Same as above, but you can race against other AI.
- Extra Game - Unsure what this does.
- Action Stage - Allows the player to select any minigame of their choosing.
- WGPX - Allows choosing any race for the World Grand Prix.
- Name in Debug - Allows changing your name. This option is a little glitched as it doesn't remove the debug menu, so any inputs to changing your name also go toward the debug menu.
- Data load - Allows loading a save file.
- Q Flags - Allows modifying which first place flags your save file has.
- Go Game (Garage) - Takes you to the garage. Your name will be changed to Debugger and all parts will be available. Additionally, all 30 flags will be unlocked. Exiting from here takes you back to the debug menu.
- Shop Debug - Allows going to any NPC in any city.
- Exit - Appears to freeze the game, but would presumably take you back to the main menu.
- Language - Allows the player to change the language.
