So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?

The reboot of the Devil May Cry franchise, developed by western developer Ninja Theory. Infamous for changing the main character's hair color and, allegedly, giving people cancer.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • These early HUD textures need to be documented.
  • Shutterstock texture needs to be documented.
  • Unused walljump animation needs to be documented.
  • The removed ch3_main mission needs to be documented.
  • Unused Eryx move Full House needs to be documented.
  • Unused voicelines need to be uploaded.
  • The disabled sprint mechanic needs to be documented.
  • A LOT of unused subtitles are hidden within the game's localization text files, there are loads of unused lines ranging from taunts to dialogue during cutscenes (Sparda has lines, there are extra exchanges between Dante and Vergil, and many references to the older games in there). A few of these lines also have accompanying sound files.
  • There's text referencing an unused move in Vergil's Downfall called "lunar phase" as a ground combo requiring you to press the attack button three times while on the ground.
  • Differences between the original and Definitive versions. Lilith's dialogue has been altered in the definitive edition, so there is at least one change.

Debug Menu and Console

A debug menu and console can be unlocked by using a modified dinput8.dll found here. The debug menu can be accessed with the Backspace+Escape key combination. The console can be accessed with either Tilde (~) or Tab.

Test Map

A test map called Combat can be accessed with the debug menu or console. The map features two grapple points, multiple platforms, and spawners for almost all of the enemies in the game.

Can be loaded by entering start combat into the console or by using the Combat Map button in the Misc tab of the debug menu.

A wide shot of the map:

Spawners for: Witch, Rage Spawn, Blood Rage, Ghost Rage, Rage, Drekavac, Ravager

Spawners for: Hell Knight, Frost Knight, Death Knight, Elite Stygian, Stygian, Lesser Stygian, Harpy, Bathos, Pathos, Tyrant, Butcher

A Clear All Enemies button and a spawner for Vergil. Vergil can only go down to about 70% of his health. After that, his health won't go down since the script to change his phase isn't loaded into the map.

Early Cutscenes

Another Chance

Unused Dialogue

A lot of unused dialogue exists within the game's localization text files. These include unused taunts from Dante meant to be spoken during combat and dialogue for a sequence later restored in the definitive edition.

Unused lines are marked in bold.

Regional Differences

After the Succubus boss fight, a cutscene depicting Mundus and Lilith having some "fun" will play, with Mundus realizing the Succubus was killed. This scene was removed in the Japanese version.
