Hmmm...
To do:
  • Find a LOT of the development material scattered across internet, like proof of concepts etc. that shouldnt be public but are because of developers using it for portfolios.
  • Analyze the videos or make descriptions of them if that hasn't been done yet.
  • Add redirects to main page where needed.
  • Embed the videos or reupload them, just in case.
  • Probably a timeline going from 2009-2011?
So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?

This page details development materials of Marvel Super Hero Squad Online.

Concept Art

A lot of Super Hero Squad Online's concept art is public, suprisingly.

Proof-of-concepts

https://vimeo.com/190146465 Interactive demo of the card game transition. Notably uses the old logo present on the SHSOtoken in the screen that is in color. Stage displayed has never before seen renders of the characters. Backsides of the cards have a even MORE unfinished logo, namely using the Super Hero Squad Show's logo as a placeholder. Has a Squaddie that isn't seen anywhere in the final game. Stage shown in the render does not exist in the final game. HP bars shown are in the same style as the unused HP bars seen in the Tutorial screenshots and the HP bars seen in prerelease footage. Features early card design and a even earlier version of the Emote wheel. Oddly shows a chat bar; the final Card Game on release would not have a chat.

https://vimeo.com/190146464 While not much has changed, it shows a better look at the early card design and how the card game would have worked. Shows a clear chat. Notably animated separately from the transition, as instead of Hulk and Wolverine, Storm and Iron Man are used as the player.

https://vimeo.com/190146466 Shows how the "emote wheel" would've worked at the time. Notably has a unused Token currency; most likely was replaced either by Gold or Silver, which both use the Coins design. Uses the final Tickets design. The background, notably, is just above Villainville (specifically the Sewer area); the last zone to be released, and looks entirely different from the final area.

FX Demo Reels

https://vimeo.com/37717017 A FX demo reel. Notably features a Clone-bot that doesn't have a HP bar or enemy AI associated to it.

https://vimeo.com/246171794 VFX demo reel. While most effects are used, the place its showcased in is not. Notably has the 2014+ emotes bar in a mission setting, which is under normal circumstances impossible. Features a Clone-bot that doesn't have a HP bar or enemy AI associated to it.
