Isn't that right, Zach?

Unused Items
Sedative
Presumably a stronger version of the Stabilizer. It is possible to visit Ushah at the hospital for a stronger dose, which may have replaced this item.

Cigarette (Feather) and Cigarette (Middle)
Only the Heavy cigarettes are available. The second game would have different kinds of cigarettes that pass time at different speeds, so these may have had a similar function.

The A & G Diner logo seems to have gone through a redesign at some point.

The "shadow" versions of Keith Ingram and General Lysander show minor discrepancies when compared to their normal forms. While not unused, these details are difficult to spot during gameplay. The patch on Keith's jacket is entirely different and Lysander's sergeant patch wasn't sloppily sown on.

A file that contains an assortment of interesting images.
TITLE.DDS, M. C. Escher's Ascending and Descending.
TEST_IMG.DDS, a screenshot of an early menu screen.
ISIYAMA.DDS, a photo of a man. Most likely Gen Ishiyama, who is credited under Programmer and Effects Tool Programmer.
BONUS_02.DDS, an image of the scene of the second murder in a style that doesn't match anything else seen in the game.
Placeholder Graphics
Placeholder paintings.
Placeholder HUD icons. They say "batsu", which could mean punishment or penalty.
Placeholder trading card, reading "picture test".
A placeholder TV screen, reading "program".
A placeholder texture which says "botsu", meaning something along the lines of "rejected".
Rainy Woods Leftovers
Leftovers from when the game was still known as Rainy Woods.
Another unused pack of cigarettes. Judging by the filename "YANG", they were most likely meant for David Young.
Rainy Woods protagonist David Young Henning's FBI badge.

Albireo Graveyard was originally called Rainy Woods Cemetery.

While not unused, the following details are next to impossible to spot during actual gameplay.
The nametags on both Fiona and Ushah's "Shadow" textures still say Rainy Woods Hospital on them.
The badges on one of Emily's textures still say Rainy Woods.
Barely visible, but Rainy Woods snuck in on one of Thomas' textures as well.
Unused Audio
Cut from a post episode summary, York describing the second victims more gruesome fate. According to interviews, this scene in particular was toned down as it was seen as too extreme.
A cut line from York's conversation about The Ramones with Zach, listing the years the members of the group passed away.
Rainy Woods Leftovers
A clip of York introducing the previous episode summary using the game's original name.
Several clips of the Ingram twins, from when they were still portrayed as small adults instead of angelic children.
A few clips of the main character's father calling out to David Young Henning's alter ego, Jeter.
Unused Music
This needs some investigation. Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page. Specifically: Something might may have gone wrong in the process of converting the files, though no other tracks had issues. |
The song heard sung by Carol in the Rainy Woods trailer, which would be replaced by Miss Stiletto Heels in the final game. Unclear if the unfitting backing track is a result of an error in the conversion process or not, but "clean" versions are easily found online.
A rendition of Ride of the Valkyries, which doesn't appear in the game.
Regional Differences
The original release of Deadly Premonition was released in Japan and Korea as Red Seeds Profile. When the Director's Cut was released in Japan on the PlayStation 3, it was called Deadly Premonition: Red Seeds Profile Complete Edition. When the game was ported to the Switch, the "Red Seeds Profile" name was abandoned entirely.

Version Differences
To do: Supposedly all but the original Xbox 360 version are quite glitchy |
The game has had three different releases:
- The original Deadly Premonition, released on Xbox 360 worldwide and on the PlayStation 3 exclusively in Japan and Korea.
- Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut, released on PlayStation 3 and Windows.
- Deadly Premonition Origins, released on Switch.
The Director's Cut
- Revamped controls, replacing the over-the-shoulder tank controls of the original.
- Extra cinematics throughout the game, framing the game as the elderly main character recalling the events of the game as a story to his granddaughter.
- Various changes to the graphics, including textures, UI elements, and effects.
- DLC in the form of extra suits for York, skins for Emily and the Raincoat Killer, additional cars, and the ability to purchase a house in Greenvale. These were paid content on PS3, but included with the base game on Windows.
- The PS3 version included support for PlayStation MOVE and Stereoscopic 3D.
- Exclusive to the Windows version is a set of Halloween-themed outfits: the "Pumpkin" suit for York, the "Devil Girl" costume for Emily, and the grey "Halloween" skin for the Raincoat Killer.
Origins
Based on Director's Cut, but without the extra story scenes, DLC, or additional control methods.
