This page contains info on data for the game La-Mulana (2006).
Text Extraction
All text used in-game is stored inside either the executable itself or the file script.dat in data/, in which it is encrypted by XOR-ing the original contents by 0x61. La-Mulana Editor, a package of tools officially released by Nigoro and made for reading the game's data files, has a tool called Script Editor that can read the script.dat text; you can download it here and follow these instructions to do so.
- Locate and open ScriptEditor.exe.
- In the program, choose ファイル(F) "File (F)" from the menu.
- Choose 組み込み(L) "Load (L)" from the dropdown menu that opens.
- Locate and select the script.dat file you wish to open.
From there on, you can already view the text by pressing Talk Editor. You can also save it as a readable* text file by choosing 名前を付けて保存(N) "Name and Save (N)". One quirk of it however is that it's not fully accurate to the actual contents, inserting newlines before the </TALK> tag.
*If you're using Japanese locale, anything from entry 772 and on will not be saved. Replacing it with anything other than the original text fixes this.
