Cities: Skylines is Colossal Order's entry into the world of city simulation games. It is available on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch; this article only covers the PC versions.
Developer Mode
Launching with the command line flag --enable-dev-ui, or having a file named dev in the current directory, enables developer functions in-game. Press Tab to activate them.
- Get More Money: Gives you $50,000.
- Levelup Building: Forces a random building to level up.
- Abandon Building: Forces a random building to become abandoned.
- Remove Buildings: Deletes all zoned buildings.
- Reset Statistics: Unknown; probably related to City Statistics menu.
- Unlock Milestone: Unlocks the next milestone.
- Unlock Progression: Unlocks all milestones.
- Unlock Unique Buildings: Unlocks all unique buldings.
- Unlock Monuments: Unlocks all monuments.
- Unlock Area Buildings: Unlocks all industrial, park, and school buildings.
- Reset Milestones: Relocks all milestones except Little Hamlet.
- Clear Achievements: Relocks all Steam achievements(!)
- Clear Config: Resets all game settings.
- Unlimited Camera: Lets the camera pan outside city limits.
- Analog Controller: Enables the use of a joystick to move the camera.
- Disable Abandonment: Prevents buildings from becoming abandoned.
- Disable Fires: Prevents buildings from catching fire.
- Full Demand: Locks residential, commercial, and industrial demand at 100%.
- Loading Profiler: Shows colored bars on the screen. Unlocks an additional option, "Show Custom Content P" which shows more bars.
- Disaster UI: Opens a menu where you can trigger any disaster, including ones not normally selectable. However, it can take several (real life) minutes for them tor trigger, and you don't get to choose where they impact.
- Language UI: Opens a menu where you can change the game language.
- Show Tutorial Tags: Opens a menu where you can trigger the various help message popups.
- Show Chirps: Opens a very large, scrollable menu where you can trigger all Chirper messages.
- Show Camera Info: Displays camera coordinates and rotation vector on-screen, with buttons to copy them to the clipboard.
- Show Locale Override: Unknown.
- Show Cloud: Opens a "Cloud Browser" menu where you can create or delete test files, presumably stored in the Steam Cloud.
- Time: Lets you manually control the day/night cycle and sun position.
- Day/Night Speed: Lets you control the speed of the day/night cycle. This does not affect the in-game date.
- Rain Intensity: Lets you control the amount of rain falling.
- Force rain motion blur: Unknown.
- Fog Intensity: Lets you control the amount of fog.
- Cloud Intensity: Lets you control the cloud thickness.
- Aurora Intensity: Lets you control the northern lights effect, so you can have Aurora Borealis at any time of year, at any time of day, in any part of the country, localized entirely within your city.
- Examine Building ID: Will focus the camera onto the specified building, if it exists.
While the developer menu is open, hovering the mouse over a building will show its ID, name, and statistics.
Unused Sounds
System.dll contains five unused jingles. They may have been a leftover from the Unity Editor.
