Fight to the Top Bug
Signing a contract with certain teams in the Fight to the Top mode can cause the game to fail when a new in-game year/season begins should the player eventually leave the affected teams, as the game assigns duplicate drivers as replacements:
Series | Team/Car | Replacement Driver | Duplicate Of |
---|---|---|---|
Trucks | Kevin Harvick Inc. #6 | Chase Montgomery | Bobby Hamilton Racing #18 |
Busch/National | Joe Gibbs Racing #19 | Denny Hamlin | Joe Gibbs Racing #20 |
Busch/National | Kevin Harvick Inc. #120 and #133 | Michel Jourdain Jr. | PPC Racing #10 |
Busch/National | Hendrick Motorsports #57 | Martin Truex Jr. | Chance 2 Motorsports #8 |
When the duplicate drivers appear on the grid, the following things can occur:
- If a race is simulated, the duplicate driver will obtain double points.
- If a race is played, the game might crash or AI cars might drive erratically.
The Chance 2 Motorsports' Busch Series #81 car also has a replacement driver named Bart Hawkins (a fantasy driver that drove the fictional #81 Broken Heart Dodge in NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup) lined up that, while not in the in-game second-tier series grid, can also result in the Fight to the Top mode to fail.
