Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway |
---|
Developer: Gearbox Software This game has unused items. |
To do: The game comes with a (buggy) Editor accessible via the "editor" command when applied to the EXE. Could be a source of unused content. |
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is the third and (so far, and not counting the Gameloft Mobile spinoffs) last entry in the Brothers in Arms series, mainly notable for two things: reintroducing a cut subplot about a "cursed" pistol from the first game's cut content and acting like it was always there, and giving us a cliffhanger ending that has yet to be resolved due to Gearbox focusing on Borderlands.
Unused Versions of Weapons
Internally, the versions of weapons in multiplayer are actually separate weapons. This can be seen with the game's console, where they are separate weapons that can be spawned in by adding "_mp" to the end of the weapon name in the console.
Notably, every multiplayer-exclusive weapon (such as the M1C Garand, non-bloody M3 Grease Gun, Unscoped G-43, and Browning M1919A6) has a "Normal" single player version as well as a multiplayer version; the Single Player versions of weapons usually have increased amounts of reserve ammo and these unused weapons are no exception. (For example, the multiplayer-only M1C Garand has only 10 clips of reserve ammo, while the single player version only accessible via the console gets 24 maximum reserve clips.)
Normally, the player is restricted to two primary weapons and Baker's custom "Death Pistol" M1911A1 that has its own special slot and can't be dropped, however there is an unused "Colt1911" (instead of Colt1911_DP, which is the pistol the player is given in the campaign) that's a copy of the Death Pistol but goes in its own special slot separate from the Death Pistol. Multiplayer does have a normal uncustomized M1911A1 that also goes in its own special slot, possibly this version was intended to be put in single player somewhere. (Baker does eventually discard his Death Pistol but only in the final cutscene of the game.)
There is also a Single Player version of the Walther P38 pistol, however unlike every other pistol including its MP version (which use their own special slots separate from the two weapon limit), this one actually uses one of Baker's two "Primary" weapon slots, the P38 did appear as a weapon that could be found in the main campaign in the previous game, Earned in Blood where it (as did the Colt 1911A1 in that game) was not separate from the player's two weapon slots.
Unused German Squad Leader voice lines
There are unused voice lines for a German Squad Leader like the ones used for Baker giving orders. Previous BIA games let the player play as a German Squad Leader in Multiplayer or Skirmish mode, however this game's multiplayer has no AI soldiers and no Skirmish mode, leaving these lines unused.
These lines have been repurposed in mods such as "Axis Player".
