Bonk's Adventure is a port of the TurboGrafx-16 game that was released late in the NES' lifespan.

Hidden Menu

I imagine this would be fairly hard to see on NTSC.

To enable a level select/sound test, hold Down, Left, A, B, Select, Start while the title logo scrolls onto the screen. Select switches between level select and sound test mode, Left and Right change levels, Up starts the selected level, A and B change the sound number, and Start plays the selected sound.

Unused Graphics

Graphics for some kind of debugging function can be found in the CHR. The NAME/TYPE/ITEM labels and box cursor seem to imply that these belonged to a level or sprite editor (perhaps similar to the one present in Super Bonk). Unfortunately, none of the associated code seems to remain in the ROM.

Japan America

The Japanese version is titled FC-Genjin (with the FC standing for Freakthoropus Computerus, though the Japanese boxart uses Friendthoropus Computerus instead for some reason) as opposed to PC-Genjin, since this port is on the Famicom instead of the PC Engine and all. Bonk just keeps his regular name.

The Japanese logo stays closer in style to the one from the original TurboGrafx-16 game, while the American one goes for a more polished look, though it does have a more accurate grey color as opposed to the Japanese version's blue.
