Blue Stinger is a horror-themed action-adventure by Climax Graphics, an offshoot company to Climax Entertainment which reallocated all the devs willing to do anything other than RPGs.
Regional Differences
To do: There's definitely gonna be more than this. |
Camera Viewpoint
Japan | US/Europe |
---|---|
While the Japanese version uses fixed camera angles much like other horror games of the time (such as the Resident Evil series), the international versions use a perspective which follows the character in typical action game fashion.
Unfortunately, there isn't any way of controlling the camera, and it tends to give a lot of visibility issues while repositioning itself in close proximity to walls and obstacles.
Missing Speech
Japan | US/Europe |
---|---|
A voiced line in which Janine makes a pun on Nephilim by comparing her with Tinker Bell was cut. It's not entirely clear why this was done, but it may be related to the fact that Activision was also publishing a number of Disney games at the time.
The cut was performed by simply introducing a blank gap in the voice file timeframe where the speech line was in the Japanese version, so Janine keeps doing her speaking gestures as intended.
German | French |

Interestingly, the subtitles for this line appear in the German and French versions, fully translated to their respective languages. While the German translation kept the Tinker Bell reference intact, the French translation replaced it with "fairy godmother".
