Hmmm...
To do:
See if there is a way to trigger the original game's "IS THIS A FAKED CPS BOARD ?" warning.

Biaofeng Zhanjing (飆風戰警, literally "Stormtroopers"), which also happens to be the Traditional Chinese title for the 1999 box-office bust Wild Wild West, is a strange backport of The Punisher, a CP System Dash game, to the original unprotected CP System, featuring music and sound effects from Final Fight.

It is not the only CP System Dash game to be backported by bootleggers - Warriors of Fate and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs received the same treatment as Huo Feng Huang (火凤凰) and Dinosaur Hunter (恐龍獵人), respectively.

Free Play Behavior

Enabling Free Play by setting the "2 coins to start, 1 coin to continue" dip switch on and the coinage setting to other than 1 coin, 1 credit (which enables the former's intended behavior) will cause the following effects, which is debatable if these are debug features or a glitch:

  • The ability to select the player type (both the standard and alternate versions of each character have different third button special attack) will be lost.
  • Depending on the coinage dipswitch, the starting stage will be different (it is not possible to start in the original game's Stage 1):
    • 4 Coins/1 Credit: Bonus stage
    • 3 Coins/1 Credit: Unused bonus stage; when the stage is completed, the player returns to the title screen, as the staff roll is disabled.
    • 2 Coins/1 Credit: Stage 6 (Final Punishment/Final Verdict)
    • 1 Coin/2 Credits: Stage 2 (Raid on Pantaberde/Assault on Pantaberde)
    • 1 Coin/3 Credits: Stage 3 (Waterfront Warfare/Tricks and Traps)
    • 1 Coin/4 Credits: Stage 4 (Death on Rails/Next Stop, Destruction); closest to non-free play behavior
    • 1 Coin/6 Credits: Stage 5 (Kingpin's Wrath/The Wrath and the Fury)
  • The playfield's first column will be filled with the same letter during gameplay or demos. A similar effect is present in the continue screen, but only the first four columns will be filled with such.
  • The player has the ability to control the demo.
  • During gameplay, hitboxes will appear, for both player and enemy characters, as well as breakable objects.
  • Starting the game when the attract demo in certain stages appears can cause the game to crash. In particular, it is possible to trigger the error handler/memory viewer by starting as player 2 (Nick Fury) when the Stage 1 (Back to the War/First Strike) demo is being played.

Error Handler

Under certain crash conditions (for instance, by starting from player 2 when the Stage 1 attract demo is being shown with free play enabled, as mentioned above, or by frequently using the third button special attacks during the bonus stage), a crash handler/memory viewer may appear. See the original game's page for the crash handler's controls.
