Bayonetta/Unused Cutscenes
This is a sub-page of Bayonetta.

The Wii U and PlayStation 3 versions of Bayonetta contain early cutscenes, as well as leftover data for cutscenes that ended up being implemented as pre-rendered videos. They can be found in the event folder. Some also have corresponding subtitles found in the mess folder (usually just the character 仮, meaning "temporary").
As these cutscenes were loaded by replacing existing ones, any skyboxes and non-subtitle text seen in the videos should not be considered part of the unused cutscene. If subtitles are not mentioned in the description, the cutscene has no data for them.

ev01
Contains motion and camera data, but doesn't display anything in-game. The only subtitle is "仮" ("temporary").
Some animations can be seen when loaded onto Bayonetta's player model in a model viewer. They include:
- Bayonetta running, vaulting, and landing on something.
- Bayonetta leaning back as she pulls something with both hands.
- Bayonetta spinning horizontally through the air while holding on to something. This almost exactly matches the animation for the train car QTE in Chapter III.
ev04
Empty in the PS3 version. The Wii U version has data for a cutscene where a Beloved collapses after having its axe knocked from its hand.
ev05
Empty in the PS3 version, but data is present in not only the Wii U version, but the PC version as well. Doesn't display anything when loaded in-game.
This file contains animations for an Affinity twirling its weapon and roaring, portions of which were used in the prototype. Additionally, these animations only work on the leftover prototype model of Affinity found in em001f.dat.
ev06
An empty scene with a Witch Time activation effect, and a camera pan.
ev14
A placeholder texture (es0118.dat) stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video in the movie folder, of Luka as a child yelling "FATHER!!".
ev21
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video in which a seal appears on the Umbran Training Grounds' door, then Jeanne lunges at Bayonetta.
ev3c
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video of Bayonetta emerging from her coffin, as Luka wonders what his father was searching for.
ev4b
Contains cutscene data for the pre-rendered video played after defeating Jubileus, of Luka gazing up at the skies above Isla del Sol and wondering how Bayonetta keeps surviving. Matches the final.
ev4d
An unused, alternate version of the Records of Time intro animation. When the camera zooms in on the falling Clock Tower, it instead pans around Bayonetta and Jeanne as Affinities surround them. It then zooms in on one Affinity in particular, after which Jeanne and Bayonetta strike battle poses.
This cutscene is unique in that it correctly triggers the "One of a Kind" music track even when not loaded into the Records of Time stage.
The subtitles for ev4d through ev6a are all "仮".
ev4e
A rather long animation of the Umbran Clock Tower rotating as it falls.
ev4f
An alternate view of the building explosion in the Records of Time Chapter. The camera is much higher up, giving a clearer view of what happens.
ev50
Another long animation of a piece of the Clock Tower rotating from the bottom of the screen to the top. In the final, the Clock Tower never rotates upside down in this way.
ev51
A cutscene similar to the final's where an Inspired breaks the Clock Tower piece Bayonetta is standing on. She jabs a piece of debris into a chunk of the tower, but she instead propels herself towards the camera instead of away.
ev53
A lower portion of the Clock Tower rotating as it falls.
ev54
A short clip of a lower portion of the Clock Tower falling, with a strange camera angle at the beginning.
ev63
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
ev66
A simple rain effect is displayed.
ev6a
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video of Rosa singing "Fly Me To The Moon" to Cereza from her jail cell.
ev6c
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video of an angry mob beating on the gate of the Umbran Training Grounds, and Fortitudo proclaiming the Eyes of the World will be held in their hands.
ev6f
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video of Luka narrating the history of the clans over top a compilation of flashback stills.
ev78
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video of Jeanne sealing Cereza away.
ev7b
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video of an angry mob and a few shots of Bayonetta cradling Rosa's body.
ev7d
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video where invisible angels attack Antonio Redgrave.
ev7f
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video of Rosa handing Cereza her watch through the bars of her cell.
ev88
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video of Jeanne throwing a dagger into the wall near Cereza, selecting her as her opponent.
ev8a
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for another pre-rendered video in which a seal appears on the Umbran Training Grounds' door, then Jeanne lunges at Bayonetta.
ev8c
A placeholder texture stays on-screen for a few seconds, then disappears.
A leftover placeholder for a pre-rendered video of Cereza laying on the ground outside Rosa's cell.
ev90
Simple cubemap texture data is present in both versions of this file, but there is no other data.
ev92
A shot of Bayonetta from two different angles. She is wearing her "Ancient" outfit, and holds Umbran Sisters in her hands, which clip through her body.
The subtitles for ev92 through ev97 are all "仮".
ev93
Bayonetta rotating a piece of the destroyed Vigrid church rapidly.
ev94
Bayonetta stepping forward and looking to her right.
ev95
Bayonetta stepping forward and looking to her left. Jeanne crosses her legs as she floats in mid-air (she's likely meant to be atop a motorcycle, as in the final). Bayonetta looks up at her and crosses her arms.
ev96
Jeanne wearing her outfit from her final battle. Her mouth slowly opens.
ev97
Two shots of Bayonetta standing still as parts of her body disappear and reappear. In the first shot, her body fades out, leaving her ribbon, guns, and arm hair/accessories visible. In the second shot, the camera is closer to her face, and only her ribbon fades in and out.
ev98
A single camera angle of the droplets/bubbles that appear during Witch Time.
ev99
An extremely early version of the cutscene where Jeanne seals Cereza away.
The flipping effect on the subtitles, as well as the red outline and shaking effect on the last set, are never utilized in any of the final game's text whatsoever.
The third set of subtitles only display for a few frames, as they do not have a proper ID and timing set for them.
The PS3 version does not correctly display the model in front of Jeanne at the beginning, and instead loads blue dummy textures. When using the Wii U version, this model is revealed to be Jeanne's red motorcycle seen in prototype footage.

Notably, these subtitles are quite similar to the ones that can be seen in these two images of a mocap draft for Bayonetta. They were posted by former PlatinumGames staff JP Kellams, who adapted Kamiya's original script into English.
ev9a
An unused cutscene featuring filmstrips containing a black-and-white picture of the game's prototype, which can be viewed here. The models are quite buggy and clip through one another. The only subtitle is "仮".
ev9f
Seems to have camera and motion data, but nothing displays on-screen. The only subtitle is "仮".
evb0
Leftover data for the pre-rendered video used as the game's startup movie.

evb1
Leftover data for a pre-rendered video of the cutscene where Bayonetta holds Rosa's body. Seems to match the final.
evb2
Leftover data for ev6c.

evb5
Leftover data for the first part of eve5. At the end, Bayonetta has two hand models, one of which is in its default gun-holding pose. She is also looking directly at the camera instead of down at her watch.
The subtitles match the final's.
evb6
Leftover data for the second part of eve5.
The subtitles are missing periods after "Mummy" and the word "do". The word "there's" is also not capitalized like it is in the final.
