Animaniacs (SNES)
Animaniacs |

Developer: Konami This game has unused areas. This game has a prototype article |
Unique to the SNES, this version centers more around different challenges (and 100% script collection) than the Genesis version's platforming, though there's still plenty of that.

Stage Select
A stage select exists in the game, but the method of accessing it differs between versions. In the Japanese version, hold Up+Y+Select and press Start during the opening cutscene.
For whatever reason, the button code was changed in the international versions, but the actual programming that checks it is skipped over completely. To enable the stage select in the US version, use Pro Action Replay code 80EE5355, start a new game, hold Up, then press Start during the opening cutscene. The stage select can also be accessed from the studio map screen by standing in front of a level, holding Up, and pressing A.
Test Levels
Three test levels can be accessed by selecting the last three options (TEST 1 through TEST 3) on the stage select screen.
- TEST 1 is a balloon jumping stage. It has several silver and golden coins, and the default music is set to "Water Tower/Secret Area". The exit leads to TEST 2.
- TEST 2 is the same level, but without coins and with Ralph the Security Guard chasing you. The default music is "Animaniacs main theme", but it doesn't loop.
- TEST 3 is the same as TEST 2, but with a broken background palette. The default music is set to "Pinky and The Brain main theme", and if you stay in this stage for a long enough amount of time, the music will play backwards. Also, it seems impossible to defeat Ralph, and you cannot access TEST 3 via TEST 2 because the exit is not defined. The only way to enter TEST 3 is using the Stage Select code or by playing through TEST 1.
The real purpose of these 3 rooms is unknown. They may have been used to test physics, AI and palette.
This page or section needs more images. There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this. Specifically: TEST 2 and 3 maps. |
Unused Graphics
Placeholder Graphics
All three Warner siblings have placeholder graphics for the Adventure Studio's Minecart level with a square border behind them. These are replaced by sprites that don't have these borders.
The Japanese character for 'fortune' (福) is stored twice with the graphics for the final boss. These characters are most likely placeholders. One of the graphics is partially overwritten by broken machine parts. The palette is unknown.
No Damage
In the game's prototype, the level select has a no damage toggle that can be turned on and off by pressing Select. The level select in the final does not have this toggle, however, the flag remains and can be enabled with Pro Action Replay code 7F002401.
