See, this is why server preservation is important.
This game's online features are no longer supported.
While this game's online features were once accessible, they are (as of September 30, 2005) no longer officially supported and online-exclusive features may be documented as now-unseen content.

Steel Battalion: Line of Contact is the multiplayer-only sequel to Steel Battalion, the mech simulator that put VTs (Vertical Tank) and its massive 40-button twin-stick controller on the map.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Include graphics of item trading, faction selection etc. or any graphics related to Campaign mode which can no longer be accessed.
  • Add pages for the 'brainbox' and Pilot Test builds.

Unused Audio

The game contains two audio tracks which go unused, both relating to the Campaign.

Clip Notes
Usage unknown, given that it is not used at all in any Free Mission mode, it is likely it was either cut from the game entirely or used within the Campaign mode.
Used in the Campaign mode when a round ended, due to Campaign shutting down this can no longer be heard.

Placeholder Server Shutdown Message

Hidden within the game's executable (default.xbe), starting at hex address 0x201781, there is a placeholder message (given the unspecified/placeholder date) relating to the termination of the Campaign mode.

‘<Notice> Steel Battalion: Line of Contact Termination of Campaign Mode service.
This is to inform you that we are going to terminate the Campaign mode service for Steel Battalion: Line of Contact at ‘insert date and time’ (sic).
We are very sorry for those of you who are still enjoying this service and we appreciate your understanding this matter.
Meanwhile, you can continue to play the Free Mission mode and the System Link play.
Although we have very short time remaining, we look forward to all of you participating in Campaign Mode.
